How We Met

Shari and Evan met on September 5, 2014, after being matched on Coffee Meets Bagel and coordinating a first date at The Helmand in Mount Vernon. Shari distinctly recalls her first impression as being pleased that Evan hadn't lied about his height, while Evan was pleasantly surprised to meet someone who decided to make a reservation in a case when he had not already done so.The dinner seemed to have made a good impression on both Shari and Evan since they saw each other several times over the next few weeks at many Baltimore institutions such as Alewife, Mick O'Shea's, and the University of Maryland Emergency Room.When Shari and Evan went mini-golfing a few weeks later and managed to end the course with the same score (a tie!), they knew it was something special.

The Proposal

Shari and Evan are proud of their egalitarian relationship, and deciding to get engaged was no different. Shari joined Evan on ring shopping excursions, and Shari was there when they found an engagement ring they both liked. However, when Shari asked how long it would take to make, Evan consistently lied and told her it would be months later than planned.It was therefore a surprise to Shari when, after a nice cozy winter Saturday of reading and relaxing, Evan mentioned that he had gotten Shari a present to celebrate six months together in their new apartment: the engagement ring! Shari overcame her initial confusion about the ring arriving six weeks early and happily accepted Evan's official marriage proposal.

Getting to the Hyatt

Flying

BWI is the closest airport to Baltimore, <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/5sN53dSFRGt" target="_blank">clocking in at just under 20 minutes away by car</a>. The airport serves as a hub for Southwest, ensuring many nonstop flights from cities all over the country.A taxi will be about $40 from the airport (without traffic) and Uber will be about $10-$15 cheaper.

Amtrak

Baltimore Penn Station (BAL) is about <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/BmVzwjF9kzF2" target="_blank">2 miles from the Hyatt</a>, making it very convenient for those traveling to the city from the Northeast Corridor. Based on our personal experience, it's much quicker to just get a cab from the taxi stand than hailing an Uber (where the wait time has sometimes surpassed the drive time).

Driving

The Hyatt is <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/7NYPZRobdK22" target="_blank">less than 2 miles from I-95</a>, making it very accessible for those traveling to Baltimore by car. Parking at the Hyatt costs $30/night for self-park and $42/night for valet for overnight guests. For those guests only attending the ceremony and reception, parking is $15 for self-park and $25 for valet.
