It all started at Asbury University, thanks to a mischievous prank orchestrated by a mutual friend. It was Spring of 2022 when Emma brought me a pineapple to sneak into a friend's room. Little did I know that pineapple would mark the beginning of our story. At the time, I didn't think much of it, but fate had other plans.

As the days went by, Emma and I found ourselves crossing paths more often, thanks to that mutual friend. We'd study together, grab lunch, and share laughs. But little did I know, behind those shared moments, Emma was harboring feelings for me. Meanwhile, I was completely oblivious to her growing affection.

Then came the fall semester of 2022, and with it, a movie night with our friends that left just Emma and me alone. It was then that Emma made her interest in me abundantly clear. Over coffee a few days later, we started our journey together that would change our lives forever.

One date turned into a few within the span of two weeks, and before we knew it, we found ourselves sitting across from each other at a cozy Mexican restaurant. It was on October 8th, surrounded by the warmth of the restaurant and the glow of candlelight, that we officially became a couple.

Asbury offered us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in campus culture, creating memories that would never be forgotten. From Wilmore’s holiday events to attending campus dances and activities, each experience brought new joys and incredible experiences.

We love the fun we can have indoors as well! We often would play board and video games with our friends. Emma is very competitive, which added to the fun and excitement.

Our journey together was filled with memorable moments, like our awkward yet endearing first dance at the Junior-Senior dance on April 1st, 2023. I quickly learned that my dancing skills left much to be desired, but Emma's laughter and grace made every step worth it.

In July 2023, Emma embarked on a transformative journey to Honduras for an internship at a medical missionary organization. Her time away only strengthened our bond, as we navigated the distance with unwavering love and support. Upon her return, I had a plan that she could never have seen coming. On a picturesque hike in the Kentucky River Palisades, surrounded by the beauty of nature, I couldn't help but let my quirky side shine through as I struggled not to be nervous for what was about to happen. And on August 2nd, 2023, with a ring in hand, I recited “She Walks in Beauty” by Lord Byron (very typical of my bookish/dorky fashion) and asked Emma to be my marry me.

Now, we are finishing this season of our lives by graduating college at the end of April and preparing for the next steps together: grad school and above all else, a new marriage.
