"Coffee Meets Bagel" matched us shortly before the pandemic began! After a few weeks of messaging one another about favorite movies and hikes, we each "ghosted" the other and buried ourselves in finding toilet paper and stocking up on hand sanitizer. A brief respite in Covid cases signaled Shea out of her lonely stupor and she reached out to Kyle, hoping he was still alive (literally) and free for a beer.

Kyle was free and a first meeting was arranged for beers at BeerLab's University location. Kyle made a strange first impression describing all of the hot-spicy challenges he and his friends had conjured up in the initial weeks of lockdown. Shea listened with mild amusement and silently diagnosed him with a pandemic mental illness. Nonetheless, she agreed to a second date for later on in the week figuring he was strange but cute in his own way. Plus, free beer.

The second date proved much more of a win for Kyle, who unknowingly impressed Shea with his muscled arms. The yummy IPAs at Aloha Beer aided Kyle's cause and a third date was arranged!

We agreed a third date ought to include a hike, which had been our initial connection early on. Kyle left the hiking spot up to Shea, who casually mentioned she had only started the Olomana "Three Peaks" trail and it had been on her mind to return and complete the first peak. Kyle's heart raced upon hearing Shea suggest this as a possibility. His dream girl was someone who would climb Olomana, his favorite hike on Oahu! Kyle decided that if Shea could ascend the first peak, she would win his heart.

Without knowing her ascent would mean a lifetime of love and happiness, Shea accompanied Kyle to Olomana and successfully summited the first peak. Since that fateful day in July of 2020 we have summited the second peak and even got engaged on the third peak. As you can see, the rest is history... or still being written!
