Our Wedding

It all began on Saturday, August 6th, 2022, at the annual Denver Bike Brew Tour. At the time, Shelbi’s sister Tatum and Joe’s buddy (now brother-in-law) Andrew hadn’t started dating yet so, naturally, they invited a couple of friends along to keep things from getting awkward. Little did anyone know, Shelbi and Joe were about to be unintentionally, but perfectly, set up. Turns out, those 18 miles, 9 bars, a big wipeout, a thunderstorm, a couple more wipeouts, and some blue pan pizza would become the beginning of our love story. Somewhere between the chaos, the laughs, the scraped-up knees, and with the help of a few beers, we just clicked. Five days later, we went on our first official date, and not long after, we somehow won our pickleball beginners league - a sign of great teamwork, an equally matched competitive nature, or the fact that everyone else was also learning the rules? You decide. In the 3+ years since, we've traveled, gone on many more bike rides, rooted for the Cornhuskers and the Packers, skied, hiked, started new hobbies, spent time with friends and family and fell in love - building memories we’ll never forget. Joe popped the question on September 1st in Buena Vista, CO, having hoped this would come since the very early days, it was an easy and emphatic "yes" from Shelbi! We couldn't be more excited to see what the future has in store and to celebrate the beginning of our next chapter with all of you. Thank you for being part of our most special day.

We recommend you fly into Denver (DIA) and drive 1.5 hours to Vail. If you want to group up and share rental cars, there is parking at the hotel. There are also several shuttles that run between DIA &amp; Vail. One of them is Summit Express, which runs every 2 hours in the summer and costs $75/person. Here is the <a href="https://www.summitexpress.com/scheduled-shuttle-service/denver-airport-shuttle-service-to-vail/summer-vail-airport-shuttle-schedule/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">link</a>. Your other option is Eagle County Regional Airport (ECE) which is in Eagle, about 30 minutes from Vail. There are shuttles services to Vail. This is a regional airport so direct flights are limited and may be expensive. However, once you are in Vail, most of our activities will be walking distance or a short uber so there is no need to rent a car.

All of our wedding festivities will take place at Manor Vail Lodge - our absolute favorite place to stay in town, and we’re so excited to share it with you! The hotel is just a short walk to Vail Village, sits right along the river, and is across the street from one of our favorite music venues, the Ford Amphitheater. Complimentary breakfast is included (their omelet bar is a must), and the property also offers a gym, sauna, spa, 2 pools, bike rentals and plenty of other great amenities to help you fully enjoy your stay. Walking distance from the Manor Vail Lodge is Vail Village, the perfect place to walk around, grab a coffee or a cocktail, and enjoy the shops!

If you’d like to explore Vail Village by bike, our hotel offers free bike rentals. You’ll also have access to two great pools, a gym, sauna, and a full-service spa. Pickleball courts are just across the street - more information can be found <a href="http://vailrec.com/golden-peak-pickleball-center" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a>.

This is a great, medium difficulty hike near Vail. You can get to the trailhead by public bus or vehicle (parking is limited). There are so many great other hikes in the area, we recommend checking out AllTrails to find something that appeals to you.

Booth Falls Trailhead

Stroll through beautiful botanical gardens at the base of the mountain, literally steps away from Manor Vail Lodge. Follow the walking path into Vail Village along the river.

Shelbi's favorite shop in town - Western shop specializing in hats (also custom), along with boots and jewelry, plus leather goods.
