Our Story

Our very first picture together!

Our story begins in May 2022 when we first met, in true rugby fashion, at a bar post practice. There was an instant connection and, incidentally, we shared our first (not very sober) smooch.&nbsp; These smooches on nights out would go on for a few months - until the infamous Rugby Volleyball Fundraiser, in July of 2022. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a rugby event our club hosts annually to raise funds &amp; consists of costumes, beach volleyball, &amp; booze. For those of you who are familiar with the event, well… need we say more. While Shona had been busy running the event, Sam… Sam was having a good time. Shona’s department at work was looking to hire, and Sam was interested in this potential role, so she darted for the table Shona was running at the Rugby Volleyball event to discuss said opportunity. For those of you that don't know Sam, without a couple of bevvy's she doesn't seem to care all that much to talk to you. On this sunny afternoon, along with her dutch courage, she leaned in over the table to tell Shona how great a candidate she was for this role (and how professional she is). When the event ended, Sam then followed her to a bar nearby (Sam thinks it’s important you know that she wasn’t desperate, she just wanted to keep the party going). From that evening on we continued to talk and grow our friendship until a month later, Sam came out to her parents over text right before introducing Shona to them for the first time. (We were not yet dating &amp; Shona did not know Sam had sent the text) We continued to pretend that we each weren't looking for anything serious, until we both realized that was a lie. In August of 2022, we decided it was time to commit to each other (&amp; stop pretending that we weren't secretly obsessed with one another). Fast forward to 2024, &amp; we are now planning our wedding (yay, it worked out!). We are so excited to share this journey with you and cannot wait to see you on August 1st, 2025. Shona &amp; Sam&nbsp; PS - Sam obviously didn't get the job.

Hi there, I’m Chloe!


Myself and Sho go way back, Over 20 years to be exact! I first met Shona in Villiers in 2004 and we have been besties ever since. Despite her being across the pond now, she’s always been a super support to me. My family and I are always delighted to see her coming home for visits, so much so she has been named the 3rd daughter! 


We couldn’t be happier for her and the lovely Sam and wish them endless good health and happiness ♥️

Recommendations for Travel

We recommend flying into Shannon Airport as this is 45 minutes from the wedding destination, however, this will require a layover. The only direct flight from Toronto to Ireland is to Dublin. Dublin is approximately 3 hours (via car) to the wedding destination. Cheapest flight price in August for Shannon: $835 (Air Canada) (based on July 31-Aug 7, 2024 via Skyscanner) Cheapest flight price in August for Dublin: $661 (Westjet) (based on July 31-Aug 7, 2024 via Skyscanner) If you fly into Shannon Airport you can get a bus (a changeover is required at the station) to Lahinch, Co Clare &amp; it takes approximately 2h and is approximately $30 each return. If you choose to fly into Dublin Airport and wish to take public transport to the destination, you will be required to take a bus to Galway, then changeover to a second bus from those locations to Lahinch. This will be approximately $96-136 each return. A rental car is the best option to save time. Consider grouping together as this will lower rental costs substantially. It starts at approximately $50 a day depending on the size of the vehicle that you choose. Travel to the venue from the Lahinch Coast Hotel and back will be provided for all guests that require it.

Places to Visit

The Cliffs are a 12 minute drive from Lahinch, Co. Clare. The best rates for the experience are available when you book online! However, you can visit for free. The tickets are to the onsite tour and history of the cliffs via their experience. Parking is not free but the lot is located across from the entrance to the cliff. The Burren

The Falls Hotel is located in Ennistymon which is a 5 minute drive from Lahinch, Co Clare. Afternoon Tea&nbsp;is also served in our Dylan Thomas Bar and our historical Inagh Suite. Enjoy a mouth-watering selection of sandwiches and delicious treats, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam. Afternoon Tea is served with a your choice of freshly brewed teas or coffee. It is served from 2pm to 4.30pm daily. Afternoon Tea is €25 per person, €30 with a glass of prosecco! It must be pre-booked. We do require a €10 deposit per person.

Pubs to Visit

One of the best pints of guinness in Ireland is to be had here! It's in Ennistymon, Co. Clare. It's a 5 minute drive from Lahinch, Co. Clare. Joan the owner is a fantastic conversationalist making this pub a must visit. There is no food served here, just ice cold pints!

Cooley's House

Great pints, roaring fire and a really interesting mix of people. This place has hardly changed in the twenty five years making it a real window into the past; that's becoming less common in the modern world. Well worth a visit!

P Frawley's Bar

Paddy the owner goes out of his way to make everyone each night feel welcomed. They have a back patio on a hot summer day; although don't be fooled by the sign that says there is a pool, there is not! A fantastic pint of guinness shall be had here amongst the locals. Be sure not to sit in their seats! You can't visit the town without popping in!

The Nineteenth Bar

Flannagan's is a fantastic pub in the heart of Lahinch&nbsp;with a great atmosphere! They serve cocktails, decent pints &amp; food.

The best fish and chips in Ireland! You can't pass this place if you're in the area. A fish and chip is enough for two people, great portions! If you're extra hungry, get your own to avoid arguments.

Spooney’s Fish & Chips

Billy (the owner) is hilarious. Worth a visit to meet this character alone. Irish chinese is its own delicacy and must be tried. A perfect hangover cure. Recommendations:3in1 (curry)4in1 (curry)Meat Sung (lettuce Wraps) &amp; everything else on the menu.

A cute bakery to grab a coffee at along with a fresh pastry!

Hugo’s Bakery

The Edge serves somewhat upscale bar fusion food in a pleasant, friendly atmosphere right by the sea.
