Our very first picture together!

Our story begins in May 2022 when we first met, in true rugby fashion, at a bar post practice. There was an instant connection and, incidentally, we shared our first (not very sober) smooch.

These smooches on nights out would go on for a few months - until the infamous Rugby Volleyball Fundraiser, in July of 2022. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a rugby event our club hosts annually to raise funds & consists of costumes, beach volleyball, & booze. For those of you who are familiar with the event, well… need we say more.

While Shona had been busy running the event, Sam… Sam was having a good time. Shona’s department at work was looking to hire, and Sam was interested in this potential role, so she darted for the table Shona was running at the Rugby Volleyball event to discuss said opportunity. For those of you that don't know Sam, without a couple of bevvy's she doesn't seem to care all that much to talk to you. On this sunny afternoon, along with her dutch courage, she leaned in over the table to tell Shona how great a candidate she was for this role (and how professional she is). When the event ended, Sam then followed her to a bar nearby (Sam thinks it’s important you know that she wasn’t desperate, she just wanted to keep the party going).

From that evening on we continued to talk and grow our friendship until a month later, Sam came out to her parents over text right before introducing Shona to them for the first time. (We were not yet dating & Shona did not know Sam had sent the text)

We continued to pretend that we each weren't looking for anything serious, until we both realized that was a lie. In August of 2022, we decided it was time to commit to each other (& stop pretending that we weren't secretly obsessed with one another).

Fast forward to 2024, & we are now planning our wedding (yay, it worked out!). We are so excited to share this journey with you and cannot wait to see you on August 1st, 2025.
