A bakery right in the middle of town, just around the corner from the Major’s Inn. This business provides for the surrounding area and is a great place to visit for a drink and some artisan treats
Local bar and restaurant, with delicious traditional and mediterranean dishes. Housed in an establishment with some of the richest history in town. A short walk across the river and down the street from the Major’s Inn

For those of you arriving early enough, Cooperstown is a 45 minute drive away from Gilbertsville and has some attractions worth visiting. Most well known is the Baseball Hall of Fame, a place we all visited growing up on school field trips. Rich with history and artifacts, take a couple hours and experience our nation’s favorite pastime.

An absolutely fascinating place and one of the most well known in the area, the Farmer’s Museum is a museum in the technical sense, in that it has artifacts and exhibits showing technology and ways of doing things in the 1800’s. What makes this place special, however, is that the staff that work here do so in period costumes and show life as it was in times past. The recreation is very authentic, making it a very enjoyable and interesting experience
For those of you more motor minded, the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich is home to a large variety of vintage cars, along with other interesting pieces, such as motors from World War 2
A park with picnic tables, access to the beautiful Gilbert Lake and surrounding nature trails. Parking is available right next to the lake, should you drive down to it once you enter the grounds. For a light trail, I recommend the circuit around the lake, it is well maintained and easy enough for relaxed enjoyment. Keep an eye out for rare animals and birds as you go, as the expansive woods and placid lake invite creatures like bald eagles and foxes
