Bear Mountain State Park is one of the best places around to hike, and it's less than 20 minutes from Blooming Hill Farm by car. There are numerous trails, so pick one that looks good here! You can also rent paddle boats at Bear Mountain's Hessian Lake, walk across Bear Mountain Bridge, enjoy a picnic, or sip a cocktail at Bear Mountain Inn. Small fee for parking.
Home of Docs Hard Cider! They have great pizzas and a big patio surrounded by roses. We recommend the sour cherry hard cider.
Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre open-air art museum built into the sweeping fields and forests of Cornwall, NY. You can walk along the pathways and picnic beneath the open sky and the giant sculptures.
Another fantastic place to hike nearby. The Storm King Trail up to Storm King Mountain is the most popular trail (for good reason–it's beautiful at the top). We did this one with Alex's parents last summer and it was challenging but so worth it! There are a bunch of other trails to choose from here.
Just across the river is one of our favorite Hudson Valley towns, Cold Spring! Have lunch outside at Cold Spring Depot or at Hudson Hills Cafe, then pop into shops selling locally made goods and antiques galore. :)
There is some surprisingly good wine grown in the Hudson Valley! Some of our favorite wineries for tasting are Benmarl, Robibero, and Whitecliff.
A jaunty, old-school ice cream shack near the Caldwell House. Twist cone is a must.
Brotherhood produced its first vintage in 1839, making it the oldest winery in the US. A cool place for a tour!
A Modern art museum in a former Nabisco box printing factory. Very cool, and Beacon is a great river town to stroll around in or grab a bite afterwards!
Reasonably priced for a quality course. Driving range, putting and chipping greens too.
If you must!
