Our Story

How it began

Connor and SK met in the laundry room of their dorm right around their move-in day freshman year of college. There was a little room right off the side where people would wait for their laundry, and they remember sitting on the floor for hours getting to know one another. Immediately they were smitten, and became fast friends. During the first week on campus, they did everything together. They could not tell if they had just made a new best friend, or if there was something more there. It seems they were the only two unsure: all of their friends spotted it from day one. At the time, SK was interning at our church and needed to find young men to volunteer once a week as small group leaders. She asked Connor, and he eagerly accepted the invitation. In hindsight, he admits it was to flirt with SK, but they both grew to love this weekly volunteering commitment together and are in their seventh year of mentoring young teenagers in their faith. Connor asked SK on their first date, and she selected the restaurant where her best friend was a server. A couple days later, their friends cornered them and exclaimed that they were not allowed to go out for the night until they admitted they were a couple.

Since then, the six years have been a whirlwind

Attending college together, they supported one another through the fun and stress that is college life. Connor’s computer science class and SK’s anatomy class left them drained but always there for one another.

Every break, SK and Connor went to their favorite place in the world, Sun Valley. They spent much of Covid up there doing remote school by day and having snowball fights by night.

They held one another’s hands during graduation, the job application process, and the grad school interview process. Connor’s support for SK as she began her doctorate is unparalleled, and SK’s interview prep sessions with Connor helped him land his jobs.

Every chance possible, SK and Connor like to travel. Since meeting, they have spent time in Dallas, Aubrey, Austin, Oklahoma, Georgia, San Francisco, San Jose, Sun Valley, the Dominican Republic, and New York.

On April 29th, Connor and SK had golf plans with their friend Tucker. At 9:00am, Tucker called to cancel. Connor decided to take SK to the arboretum instead. For an hour, they wandered around taking picture after picture. Each time, SK thought he may propose. By the end, she was absolutely certain he was just in a photographic mood and no proposal would take place. At noon, Connor asked a grouchy lady to take one final picture, and he got down on one knee. SK wanted to call their families but Connnor explained that he had lunch reservations and they would call then. They walked in to cheers and tears from their families who were all together waiting to celebrate. It truly was a perfect day!

SK and Connor are excited for everyone to come together to celebrate on August 10th!

What the wedding party has to say

Lily

"They’re the least insufferable couple I know."

Tucker

"SK and Connor are fundamentally different people who complement each other very well. They’re resilient and battle-tested, having worked through many of life’s situations that could have broken other relationships. There’s nothing stopping them now. These two are ready to take on the world."

Carlos

"SK and Connor are two of the most welcoming and warm people I know. Each hilarious and charming in their own way, their true strengths illuminate as champions for individuality. I know their door is open to me with no requirement than to be exactly who I am, and nothing more. When I think of them, I think of safety, of generosity, and unconditional love."

Nolan

"I remember when Connor told me he was planning on proposing and the excitement in his voice as he said it. He knew SK was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with."

Courtney (Fetter)

"Connor and SK are a remarkable couple who've supported each other since their college days, navigating dorm life, internships in different cities, and now tackling grad school and professional careers. Excited to witness the continued support they offer each other as they embark on the next stage of their journey!"

Emmaline

"SK and Connor are an iconic and strong couple. However, on a drive from Dallas to San Antonio to see Greta Van Fleet in concert, we played a word game while stuck in traffic in Austin. SK, Connor, Tim, and I took turns saying words at the same time in pairs until we said the same word, as if by telepathy. SK and I said the same word on the second guess. She and Connor took over 40 guesses. Connor loves SK, of course, but who loves her more? Anyway, one of us is marrying her and it isn't me. Congrats Connor!"

Tim

"I met both SK and Connor seven years ago, right around the time they started dating. I could not tell you the number of hours that we spent together having tea at a table in our dorm while at SMU. It meant so much to me that even after I graduated two years before them, they still invited me to events as well as to just catch up. They were both there when I first met Emmaline. I believe they bring out the best in each other and I know they have supported each other through the highs and lows. It's an honor to have seen them grow as a couple since those fledgling days on campus. It's a privilege to join them as they start their next chapter."

Emily

"SK and Connor coexist seamlessly and trust one another on such a fundamental level that they work together as perfect teammates without compromising what makes each of them such amazing individuals. Their love and commitment to each other makes them ideal lifelong partners."

Emerson

"Having witnessed Connor and SK’s journey, their love is as inspiring as it is deep. Connor, a paragon of steadiness and integrity, compliments SK, a fount of joy radiating the most profound emotional wisdom, in a perfect harmony. Their love for each other is evident and casts a gentle, heartening light on the many lives they touch."

Sarah

"While I have lived in the Midwest pretty much their entire relationship, I am very grateful that SK and Connor have adopted me back since returning to Dallas. Their kindness knows no bounds. They truly are such a great couple. You can tell almost instantly that they are best friends first and foremost, and the love and support they have shown each other throughout the over six years of dating is truly such a rare and beautiful thing."

Palmer

"You often get to meet some of your great friends in college. Within an hour of being there, I met SK. One borrowed hammer led me to two great friends that I’m so fortunate to have seen fall in love over the past 6 years."

Jennifer

"SK and Connor complement each other so well and are the perfect match. I’m so excited that they are spending the rest of their lives together!!"

Courtney (Conner)

"Connor and SK are some of the most thoughtful, smart, kind, and funny people I know. They always know to make their friends laugh, how to pick them up, and make them feel heard and loved. I’m so happy to know them and can’t wait for August 10th!"

Joey

"I’ve known Connor my entire life. The first time I saw him with SK I knew they were meant for each other."

Bella

"Freshman year at SMU, I first became friends with Connor. But one night, while Connor was showing off his pull-ups, a rogue foot kicked our sweet SK in the head and gave her a concussion! I knew I had to switch sides. Here we are 6 years later and they're still some of my best friends, and apparently he didn't wack her too hard because they're getting married! I love you two, and I've loved watching how you've grown together."

Jared

"It should come as no surprise that meeting SK and Connor in college meant that we did our fair share of partying. (Potentially evidenced by Connors full dormitory mixology set!) But now, here we stand as fully formed, responsible adults! Complete with Connor and SK’s full mixology set, including decorative glasses, split limes, and an eclectic living room to match. No matter where: cramped dorm rooms, well-loved apartments, or family gatherings cross-country, SK and Connor bring lively conversation and warmth of life to any occasion. I’m blessed to call them best friends and so honored that a chance meeting via a train-wreck mutual in 2017 has brought so much joy. Here’s to a lifetime of memories, love you both, I can’t wait to see what your story holds!"
