Beaches Resort is your playground! Eat and drink until your heart is content. Pamper yourself with a massage at the spa. Surrender to the sunshine in your chaise lounge. Splash, swim and sip the day away at one of the swim-up bars. Party at club Liquid or chill at the Sports Bar. You choose your fun! There are plenty of kid and teen friendly activities included in your stay. Beaches has it all!!

Please book your resort accommodations directly through our travel agent to receive contracted rates and military, fire or police discounts (there is no added cost for using our travel agent). I met Ramonda when she and her husband Kevin crashed a birthday party at my house. We went from being complete strangers to best friends for life in virtually no time at all. We both have a passion for traveling so I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect person to come in to my life. I can’t imagine my special day without her standing by my side just as she always has.

Deanna and I met while working at a art supply warehouse when we were fresh out of high school. I’d been working there for a while but when she showed up on her 1st day we played a trick on our co-workers telling them that we were sisters. Well it wasn’t a complete lie because we instantly became best friends and sisters at the same time. Many years later we are still very close and I love watching her dreams come true. I am so blessed to have Deanna by my side on this special day. 

DeAnna Shipman

I met Carole while I was at a wine bar with Kevin and Ramonda. She just looked like somebody we wanted to know so we cornered her when we spotted her walking from the ladies room. It just so happened that she also was a John Muir nurse and was moving from Danville to Brentwood. Her husband Darryl warned her that we were trouble and he was right!! Since meeting we have had so many fun adventures. I am so thankful for her friendship and so excited for her to be a part of the biggest day of my life.

Chavonne is my sister-mother-friend. I know that I can always call on her, no matter what time of day or night, and before we hang up the phone she will be at my door. Chavonne is the type of person who will give you the shoes off her feet. She is loyal, loving and a bright light to those in her life. Chavonne is a true go-getter. When you give her the what and the why, she will figure out the how! I couldn’t be more honored to have Chavonne stand by my side on my special day and all the wonderful days to follow.

I am so excited and grateful that Nicole is part of my Bride-Tribe. I love Nicole for her huge heart, easy going personality and the east coast vibe she brings to our circle of friends. We always have such a great time hanging out with her and her family…eating, drinking, laughing and listening to good music. The Nichol’s really know how to have a good time! I have no doubt that her and her husband Chris will be one of the 1st couples to hit the dance floor at the reception.

Michelle and I met a couple years ago when I started working at County Hospital. It didn’t take long for us to become close friends and eventually she became my work wife lol. Having a coworker and friend like Michelle makes difficult shifts seem a little bit easier. Not only do I love working with her, but I enjoy the time we spend together outside of work as well. Michelle is an outstanding nurse and former Paramedic, so if you get a little too tipsy at the wedding and need assistance, she’s your go-to girl!

My big lil bro, nothing is more fitting than to have him be by my side at my wedding. Omar has had my back for over 20 years and has always been there when I needed him. From football to trips, we have been down like two flat tires. Thank you O for being a part of my special day. Love you!

My younger brother is the bomb. Family man, great father and husband he has been a real example of what a man is all about. Even though you're my little brother, you've taught me so much about life and love. I know that he took the mantle from me as the baby of the family lol! But man I am so glad he came into my life. Honestly this is the man I have known longer than anyone besides my parents and sisters. My big brother has not only been a great example for me but has also been my confidant, mentor, sounding board and more. His role in my life has been indelible and I don’t know what life would have been like without him. We have cried together, prayed together and fought together (lol). Thank you for always being there, for always being the one person I could talk with. You are the most amazing big brother a person could ever have.

Xio, one of our six grandchildren, is bright, happy, loving and likes to get a little silly sometimes. This charter company is not part of Beaches resort however guests will receive a 10% discount if they mention they are attending the Calhoun wedding. We used them on our last trip to Turks and had an amazing time with Captain Rice.

Things to Do

Well if you ask Derik, of course he will tell you that he was interested in getting a treatment at my med spa, but he was actually more interested in getting to know me.  Our phone conversation went from talking about treatment options to him asking me if I was seeing anyone. Even though I told him “yes I was”, he wasn’t deterred one bit. I made it clear to Derik that I was not in an exclusive relationship but that I was seeing someone, but he didn’t hesitate to take his shot and to ask me out on a date. I do admit, before accepting his invitation, I did a little research of my own by searching his Facebook page to make sure he wasn’t a weirdo lol. At first glance it appeared that we had a lot in common and he seemed like a great guy. We spent several hours getting to know each other on that first date and I quickly realized that we had more than just commonalities, we had a true connection! We had a blast spending the entire day together but it was time for me to make my way home.  Shortly after dropping me off, he called to ask me if I would like to join him for dinner that night. So, of course I said yes! So that’s how it all began. One date turned in to two dates, which turned in to forever after!
