Our Wedding

Sebastian and Sonia’s story began at Georgia Tech, though their paths didn’t cross until years after they graduated. Their first meeting happened at a mutual friend’s birthday brunch, where an undeniable chemistry sparked between them. Unfortunately, the world had other plans, and the pandemic kept their budding connection confined to Instagram likes and virtual exchanges. Fate had other ideas, though. A year later, the same friend’s birthday party brought them back together, and this time, in person. The chemistry they felt before had only intensified, and they both knew they had discovered something truly special. From that moment on, their journey together became one of deepening connection and shared experiences, leading them to this exciting new chapter of their lives.

Traveling to Spain 

Our Wedding will take place in the iconic city of Seville, located in Andalucia, the southern part of Spain. Seville has its own airport (SVQ), so traveling all the way there by plane is possible.If you are flying from outside of Spain and there are no direct flights, we highly recommend commuting via Madrid or Barcelona Airports and from there flying into the Seville Airport. ALLOW NO LESS than 1.5 hours between flights for transits. This is key, especially at the Madrid Airport. Another alternative is to fly into another European capital like Paris, London, or Brussels and commute from there directly to the Seville Airport.

Getting around Seville

The easiest way to get around Seville is by taxi, Cabify or Uber. Parking in the city can be very expensive and there is little to no free parking - so renting a car to only visit Seville is not recommended. If you wish to take an extended trip and adventure outside of Seville- you can rent a car from the train station or the airport.

Hotels and Accomodations

We highly recommend that you book accommodations in the old town of Seville, so you don't have to worry about a car. The old town is easy to navigate by foot, full of incredible restaurants, and shops, and you'll have endless opportunities to explore. Below are some hotel suggestions, but there are plenty more to choose from on Booking.com, AirBnb and VRBO. Please feel free to pick a hotel that suits your taste and preference.

Located in the heart of the historic center of the city, the&nbsp;H10 Casa de la Plata&nbsp;enjoys an exceptional location next to the Plaza del Salvador, in the midst of a wide range of dining and shopping options and just a 5-minute walk from the cathedral, the Giralda, the Santa Cruz neighbourhood and the Royal Alcázar palace.

Conveniently situated in the centre of Seville, Hotel Casa 1800 Sevilla provides air-conditioned rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi and a terrace. Hotel Rey Alfonso X is located in the historic center of Seville, a short walk from the Giralda and the Santa Cruz district. The outdoor swimming pool is seasonal. Santa Justa Train Station is 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel and local buses leave from outside the hotel, taking you to the main monuments and FIBES Convention Center. The charming Santa Cruz neighborhood is within a 10-minute walk of the hotel, while the Alcazar Palace is 0.6 mi away.

Seville, or Sevilla as it's known in Spain, has quickly become one of our favorite cities, and we can’t wait for you to experience its enchanting cobblestone streets. The city offers a perfect blend of history, stunning architecture, amazing shopping, and an array of incredible dining and drinking spots. We highly recommend exploring on foot to soak in its charm or using a taxi or Uber for longer distances.

Sightseeing

This is the most easily recognized building and probably the image most people have of Seville. In 1929, Seville hosted the Spanish-American Exhibition, and numerous buildings were constructed for the exhibition in Maria Luisa Park, among them was the Plaza designed by Aníbal González. Aníbal created the most famous Moorish Revival architectural masterpiece. It has two 80-meter-high towers joined by a gallery with arches that look down onto a semi-circular display of brightly tiled sections. Each displays the map, as well as cultural objects and motifs from the Spanish Regions arranged alphabetically. Today the plaza houses government buildings, including El Ayuntamiento (Town Hall). A popular way to view the building is by renting a rowing boat and drifting around the moat.

This is a beautiful city garden. It is where the Plaza De España is located, too, so you can visit both together. There is a huge park with amazing architecture and design.

Parque de María Luisa

This is the primary tourist neighborhood of Seville and the former Jewish quarter of the medieval city. We love its character! Santa Cruz is bordered by the Jardines de Murillo, the Real Alcázar, Calle Mateas Gago, and Calle Santa Maria La Blanca/San José. The neighborhood is the location of many of Seville's oldest churches and is home to the Cathedral of Seville, including the converted minaret of the old Moorish mosque Giralda.

Barrio de Santa Cruz

This is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. The interior has the longest nave in Spain with the central nave rising to a height of 42 meters and is lavishly decorated, with large quantities of gold. One of the outstanding features of the cathedral is various scenes depicting the life of Christ. The altarpiece was the lifetime work of a single craftsman, Pierre Dancart. In 1401, Seville's leaders decided to build a new place of worship as the ancient Muslim mosque was in a bad state of repair following the 1356 earthquake. The cathedral was built to demonstrate Seville's wealth, as it had become a major trading center, especially with the Gold and Silver from the American colonies. La Giralda (The Cathedral Bell Tower)After the Reconquista, the Cathedral was built on the former site of the city's mosque. The Giralda was originally the city's mosque minaret but was converted into a bell tower and integrated into the new Cathedral. The Giralda is the city's most famous symbol and measures 105 meters in height. The tower's interior was built with ramps rather than stairs, to allow the 'Muezzin' to ride on horseback to the top. Muezzin is the person that calls Muslims to prayers from the minaret and getting up and down the tower 5-times a day was not a task taken lightly! The tower is topped with a statue, known locally as El Giraldillo representing Faith.

Catedral de Sevilla

Alcázar is derived from the Arabic 'al-qasr', meaning 'palace'. The Almohades built the original palace around 1100AD when it was known as Al-Muwarak. The palace is one of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture. Subsequent monarchs have added their own marks to the Alcázar. The upper levels of the Alcázar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence and are administered by the Patrimonio Nacional.

The tower was a military watchtower built by the Moors during the Almohad dynasty to oversee and control access to Seville via the Guadalquivir River. Constructed in the 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages and as a secure enclosure for the protection of Gold and Silver brought by the Spanish fleet from the Americas colonies (hence the tower's name). The tower is divided into three levels, with the third and uppermost being circular in shape and added in 1760. This tower has a lesser-known half-sister: La Torre de la Plata, an octagonal tower.

Dear Lovely Wedding Guests, For your convenience, we are providing shuttles at 2 stops within the city of Seville to and from the venue on our wedding day. Please read the details below if you would like to ride with your party and other wedding guests. Villa Luisa isn't a far drive from most places in the city, and you're welcome to catch an Uber or other taxi/rideshare if you would rather leave at a different time on your own. To Villa Luisa When: 17:00/5 pm (shuttles will arrive promptly and wait up to 17:10/5:10 pm for everyone to board) What: 2 shuttles that seat 55 people each (those who are in the wedding party will be at the venue already) Where: 2 Stops will be available, See Photos below for approximate pickup stops. 1. Jardines de Murillo: Av. de Menéndez Pelayo, 26 2. Teatro de la Maestranza: Across the street from Teatro de la Maestranza. On Paseo Cristóbal Colón (landmark: Parada 1 City Sightseeing Sevilla) Please figure out which location is the best stop for you based on where you are staying in Seville. 1. Jardines de Murillo stop: closest to the Santa Cruz neighborhood in Seville (old town SE of the Cathedral) 2. Teatro de la Maestranza stop: more suitable for those staying around Cathedral area (West and Noth)&nbsp;and also Arenal area, Triana Shuttles are blue with the name of the company "Alompe" on the side. See first photo below. They will drop you off at the main entrance of Villa Luisa, where there is a bronze plaque with the name of the venue and a black gate. From Villa Luisa There are return shuttles at 2 times during the evening. &nbsp;1st Return Shuttle: 00:30/12:30 am, after the midnight late night snack&nbsp; 2nd Return Shuttle: 2:30 am, at the end of the reception &nbsp;Note: Shuttles will be waiting outside the main gated entrance of Villa Luisa, where you were dropped off, to take everyone back to the 2 stops. If you miss each of the shuttles, no worries -- feel free to take an Uber or other taxi back to your hotel!
