Q + A

How long should I come for?

We will be staying at Windmill Bay Hotel from Monday 16th - Monday 23rd June. The wedding will be on Saturday 21st June and we would love for you to join us on Friday 20th June for our welcome event if you can make it. On the Sunday we will be recovering by the Windmill Bay pool reveling in the night before and invite you to join us on an informal basis but if you need to catch a flight there is no pressure to join!

We would recommend making a trip of it and enjoying all the glorious things Zakynthos has to offer if busy life plans allow it (check out the Things To Do section) but ultimately do whatever works best for you!

Itinerary inspiration please?

4-5 days

Wednesday, arrive & relax around the hotel

- Dinner at Anadalis or nearby restaurant in Argassi

- Play a bit of mini golf at Molly Malones

Thursday, explore further afield

- Arrange a boat trip from Keri - visit Explore Zakynthos or I have used https://zanteboatrentals.gr/ before (roughly €30pp for 7 seater self-drive boat)

- Hire a car for the day & visit Porto Limnionas

- Visit Marathias Beach & stop at the taverna for a lazy lunch

- Arrange a boat trip to see Shipwreck Cove & Blue Caves (hired with a skipper due to choppier waters, take a small boat to avoid tourist traps & visit from a nearby port for a more relaxed visit)

- Visit the Zante Water Village (large waterpark)

- Visit a beach club e.g. Noe

Friday, quick coffee in town before the Welcome Party

- Visit Zante Town for an early coffee & walk round the port

- Visit Bochali for a morning coffee & enjoy the views of Zante Town

- The welcome event will be in Agassi, 5 mins walk from Windmill Hotel

Saturday, spend the first half of the day relaxing before the wedding begins!

- Lounge by the pool at Windmill Bay or Windmill Hotel. Sea swimming is available at both (across the road at Kavo for Windmill Studios).

- Drive 10 minutes to Porto Zorro to spend the morning swimming & for a spot of lunch

- Drive 10 minutes to Banana Beach for a spot of watersports

Sunday, relax by the pool and share wedding stories

- Lounge by the pool at Windmill Bay or Windmill Hotel. Sophie Anne and Peter will be relaxing at Windmill Bay.

1 week

By choosing multiple of the options above 4 days can easily be made into 1 week. Other highlights for a longer trip include sunset dinners at Agnadi, lazy long lunches at Nobelos, drinks in Zante town at Avant Garde, and of course exploring all of the beautiful beaches of Zakynthos! See Things To Do for more information.

If you want to extend the trip and explore Greece (Kefolonia, Athens, other Greek Islands and want some recommendations or ideas do reach out - there are regular ferries leaving Zakynthos every day).

WHAT TEMPERATURE WILL IT BE DURING THE WEDDING?

The temperatures in Zakynthos in late June can reach 25-30 degrees celsius. All venues have shaded areas but we anticipate it could reach high 20s for the ceremony, so please come prepared!

It's worth having a light jacket or wrap for the evenings, but is rarely needed.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Dress code is dress to impress (cocktail) but do be mindful of wearing dark colours and heavy materials in the Zakyknthos sunshine.

The bridesmaids will be wearing green.

Do I need to hire a car?

We would say it depends on what you want to see! If you want to go further afield and explore its worth having the ease and flexibility of a car, but if you just want a local beach trip or two, no car is required.

Argassi (where Windmill Bay, Windmill Studios & Kavo are located) is next to some of the best beaches on the island. You can easily take a €10-20 taxi to any of the sandy beaches 15-30 minutes away (Porto Zorro, Banana Beach, Porto Roma as examples). The hotel will help you arrange drop off & pick up. Banana beach also has a shuttle that runs from Argassi.

Zante town is also a convenient 15 minute drive from Argassi.

Further afield (45-60mins) there are some other lovely spots, including Agios Nikolaos, Porto Limnionas , Shipwreck Beach & the Blue Caves. These are better visited by hire car.

Car hire is available at the airport and there are many within walking distance from the hotel in Argassi (the hotel will also be happy to help you book through one of their partners). This means you also have the option to hire a car for a day or two, rather than the whole week, as it suits you.

Which Windmill Hotel would you recommend?

I love both for different reasons! Windmill Bay, right on the edge of Agassi, has been refurbished recently and so is a more luxurious stay. Windmill Bay also has the award winning restaurant Anadalis. It is also right on the water, and every room has a sea view. In comparison Windmill Studios, closer to Argassi resort, is a simpler stay embodying greek hospitality and is nestled into the hillside between the citrus and olive trees. For that reason I find it very tranquil. Sea views are still available and sea swimming & sunbeds are available to guests over the road at Kavo. Either way the hotels are a 5 minute walk from each other.

The wedding party will be staying at Windmill Bay.

Do I need to pack a beach towel?

For those travelling with hand luggage, if you are staying at the Windmill Hotels they both provide beach towels for guests.
