Sophie and Conor first met in 2019 at Christopher Newport University’s Light the Night event - a celebration that involves glow sticks, music, and celebrating school commencing. Conor asked Sophie on a date, and the two spent the date at Smoke BBQ getting brisket nachos, followed by watching the sunset at the quintessential college sunset viewing point, Lion’s Bridge.&nbsp;

For the next few years following Conor’s graduation, Conor and Sophie would face a long-distance relationship, but the two would often reconnect by their love of travel. Their adventures included trips to Cape Cod, Los Angeles, New York City, and the Florida Keys.

The two moved to Charleston in the fall of 2023 following Sophie’s graduation. Despite having never visited before, they quickly fell in love with Charleston. Since moving they have met many amazing friends, adopted their dog child Rosco, and made Charleston feel like home.

Conor and Sophie visited Quebec, Canada for the winter holidays in 2024. On December 26th, the two went to Jacques Cartier National Park - a mountainous park with evergreens covered in snow and an iced over lake. The two enjoyed the snow-masked trails, wildlife, and the beauty of the scenery. When nearing a viewpoint at the end of a trailhead, Conor stopped, got on one knee, and proposed to Sophie. Sophie said yes!

Currently the pair are enjoying their engagement by exploring South Carolina and taking Rosco for walks on the beach.
