Montana features a wide range of activies and we hope you take the time to explore it! Below are some of our favorite things to do.
Glacier National Park is an increadible wonder of Montana. Located about 2 hours north of Cattle Springs it is well worth a visit. Please see the website for information regarding reservations.
The Alberton Gorge (just west of Missoula) features some of the best white-water rafting in Montana. This is a fun trip for all ages (Sophie started rafting this river at age 6). The Montana River Guides know this river inside and out so it is a safe trip, but the guides can also lead you into some of the bigger waves. If you are looking to spend some time on the water and see some wildlife this is the trip for you!
The Western Montana Fair will be in full swing during this time. Admission is free and the Fairgrounds features a carnival, rodeo, butterfly garden, and showcases 4-H projects! This is a great activity for all!
Flathead Lake boasts some of the clearest and cleanest lake water in the United States. If you are looking to hang out on a beach and play in the water check out Yellow Bay!
Montana is one of the few places where Sapphires can be found. If you would like to find your own head to Phillipsburg to pan for sapphires (in store or on the mountain side) and visit the best candy store in Montana. Sophie's wedding band is from The Sapphire Gallery in Phillipsburg.
Flathead Lake features many islands and areas to explore. Look into Big Arm Boat Rental and Rides for all of your boating needs and future adventures.
Lake Como, located an hour south of Missoula, is a hidden gem of the Bitterroot. It features a great swimming spot, a beautiful hike around the lake, and is close to Darby, Montana. Darby is know for being home to the iconic Yellowstone Ranch (Chief Joseph Ranch).
The Hiawatha Bike Trail is on the Montana and Idaho border on Lookout Pass. It is a scenic route that follows the old railroad. Bike rentals and tickets are available at Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area. It is suggested that you start your ride no later than 1 PM.
Yellowstone National Park is an amazing place to visit and showcases some of the best wildlife in Montana. This will be a farther drive from the venue but certainly worth it.
The Missoula Carousel is a wonderful spot in downtown Missoula to take kids and explore. The carousel ponies are all locally hand carved!
Splash Montana is a waterpark located in south Missoula. This waterpark features waterslides, a lazy river, and swimming lanes. Splash is a great place to escape the heat and fun for all ages.
More than an exhibit, the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Conservation Education Center is an immersive journey into the heart of big game country.
Cutting-edge simulations with screens that run from floor to ceiling put you inside an elk herd—searching for food, traveling through rugged landscapes and evading predators. Touchscreens invite you to engage in the field work of biologists, counting elk during an aerial survey, capturing an elk calf to evaluate its health and determining the cause of a herd’s winter migration shift.
