We are so thankful to those who are traveling from out of state to celebrate with us. If you are coming from a place of lower elevation, we want to provide a few tips to make your trip the best it can be. My first trip to Colorado was spent in a hotel room, sick from the elevation, and these are a few tips I wish I had known to avoid it!
Stay hydrated! This is essential for avoiding altitude sickness. We highly recommend traveling with a reusable water bottle. If needed, plastic water bottles are available for purchase at the hotel.
Eat light meals. Traveling to higher altitudes may cause you to lose your appetite. It’s important not to skip meals but instead to eat lighter, balanced ones. Traveling with Dramamine or Nauzene can help alleviate nausea.
Rest. Like all travel, it’s important to make time for rest. A quick nap or an early bedtime can help you acclimate better to the high elevation.
1 Drink at Altitude = 2 Drinks at Sea Level. Be extra cautious when having a few drinks during your trip. You’d be surprised by how quickly alcohol can affect you due to the lower oxygen levels at higher elevations.
