Mehndi Laga ke Rakhna, Doli Saja ke rakhna........
Henna/Mehndi : Henna symbolizes positive spirits and good luck. Indian Wedding tradition calls for a Mehndi ceremony to be held the night before the wedding as a way of wishing the bride good health and prosperity as she makes her journey on to marriage.
Jaggo : Jaago literally means “wake-up”. Centuries ago, invitations were not sent to invite people to weddings. Relatives of the bride or groom would go around the village on the night before the wedding day with pots on their head that were decorated with oil candles, singing and dancing as an open invitation to attend the wedding. The candles were used for light as this is before electricity was established! The traditional folk song is “jaago”, so they would encourage people to wake-up and join in the festivities.
Sagan : Sagan means ” auspicious", In Punjabis the ceremony starts with a prayer, then the parents of girl do the Sagan. The bride's parents gifts gold, sweets and ” Chuara”, it's a dry date, they give to the Groom. It means that the boy now is their son-in-law, and he is promised to their daughter.
The Groom's parents give to the future daughter-in-law a red ” Chunni”, a type of veil, makeup, a dress, bangles and other stuff. Also the parents and other relatives of the groom give the bride ” Chuara” and sweets.

Haldi : Like the sangeet and mehndi, the haldi is a prewedding ritual common at traditional Indian weddings. The haldi ceremony is a significant prewedding event and ritual in almost every Indian regional wedding. It is celebrated on the wedding day or one day prior to the wedding day and is usually a close-knitted event. The closest family, relatives and friends come together on this auspicious occasion to apply turmeric paste (haldi) on the bride and groom's face and body. Turmeric has a very auspicious significance in all Indian weddings. The color of turmeric is identified in Indian culture as a color of prosperity.
Grah Shanti: Indian customs call for various religious rituals to take place for different occasions. The Grah Shanti pooja is performed before the wedding rituals take place to receive the blessings of the ‘Grah,’ also known as the nine planets. Indians, from the ancient days, believe that the nine planets control the lives and destiny of people. This is why before two people tie the knot, acknowledging the planets or ‘Navagraha’ becomes quite essential to bring happiness and prosperity in the lives of the couple and the families. For Hindus, this pooja is usually performed two to three days before the wedding to ensure an auspicious start to the festivities. Hindus believe that this Grah Shanti pooja is not just about the planets, but also a way to invite God and ancestors to the wedding. Lord Ganesha is invoked at the beginning of the ceremony to remove all obstacles not only from the entire wedding ceremony, but also from the bride and groom’s married life.
