Congress Ave Bridge Bat Colony

Austin is home to the largest urban bat colony in the world! Each night, from May to October, you can watch the bats leave their home under the Congress Ave Bridge and take flight for the evening. You can watch from atop the bridge or a cruise, but we recommend bringing a blanket and heading to the Austin American-Statesman’s Bat Observation Area. Bats fly around sunset.
