Our Wedding

How we Met&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Brenna grew up in Anchorage, AK and moved to Wyoming for college. Spencer grew up and went to college in Iowa. In 2019, Brenna graduated from the University of Wyoming and moved back to Alaska, while Spencer graduated from Morningside College and took a chance on moving to Wyoming for a nursing job at the hospital in Laramie.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In July of 2019, Brenna flew down to Laramie for one last “hurrah” with all her friends before starting life in Alaska. The first night in town, she met up with some friends for a girl’s night out, and one asked if she could bring her new roommate from Iowa (guess who!) Little did Brenna know this friend had told Spencer before leaving the house that he had to meet this girl from Alaska and fall in love so she would move back to Wyoming. It’s safe to say God works in wonderful ways, because 3 days into that trip Brenna decided to move back to Wyoming, and the rest is history! The Proposal&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Spencer proposed on July 11, 2022. Anyone who knows Brenna will tell you she has been dreaming of and anticipating this day FOREVER! Brenna’s parents were visiting from AK, and everyone was out at the Johnson’s family ranch for a long weekend. Saturday came and went, then Sunday passed and nothing… Brenna truthfully started getting a little grumpy because it seemed like Spencer was going to miss the perfect opportunity to pop the question!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On Monday morning Spencer and Brenna woke up early to have coffee, and Spencer suggested they walk down to the dock to feed the fish and watch the sunrise over the pond. Brenna did not think anything of it because she had just woken up and was tired and still slightly grumpy. They made it down to the dock to see a beautiful pink and orange sunrise. Spencer stepped back and when Brenna turned around, he was down on one knee, it could not have been more perfect!!

Things to keep in mind about the ceremony   - It is about a 45 minute drive from Saratoga to the ceremony - The site is remote and there is no cellphone service after leaving Saratoga - Part of the drive is a dirt road and flat tires are not uncommon - There is no running water, an outhouse will be provided for bathrooms - We highly recommend carpooling or meeting at the reception venue and caravanning out to the ceremony   **We understand the ceremony is remote and may be difficult for some guests to get too, and does not offer amenities some guests require or desire. We completely understand if you choose to forgo the ceremony and only join us for the reception. Please just make sure to indicate this on your RSVP!!**

*Please find your starting destination below and follow the directions listed. There is no physical address to the ceremony site, and NO CELLPHONE SERVICE once you leave Saratoga or Rawlins. There will be signs along the highway as you get closer to reassure you are in the correct place. We highly recommend carpooling if possible and/or caravanning out with other vehicles.

These are only a few of the places to stay. There are no hotels in Saratoga (just small motels and AirBnbs) so we suggest booking your stay ASAP!! You can also book in Riverside, WY or Encampment, WY as they are only a short drive from Saratoga. Rawlins, WY is also an option and has chain hotels, but is a 30 minute drive from Saratoga.

My name is Rachel and I met Brenna when we were in college. I was a freshman and she was a sophomore. I can’t think of a favorite memory with Brenna, mostly because there’s too many to count, and it would take up too much room! what I can say is Brenna has been with me through everything and has become my dearest friend. I can’t imagine life without her and I’m so grateful that I’ve gotten Spencer out of it too. I can’t wait to celebrate their special day with them and celebrate the amazing life they’re going to start together!

Spencer and I have been best friends since I can remember. When Brenna asked me to write this, I called Spencer to ask when/how we met, and we both couldn't remember where the memories were. Throughout the year's Spencer and I have done almost everything together. It is hard to pinpoint our best memory growing up. We sometimes found ourselves getting into a bit of trouble. But I have a few that stick in my head and won't incriminate us. We were 14 years old and had a snow day off from school. We were always thinking of something to do; they were never traditional ideas. We were at my house thinking about what we should do when Spencer suggested we go snowmobiling. Neither of us had a driver's license to haul the snowmobile since we couldn't ride them to the pit since we already had law enforcement at my parents' house before for driving the snowmobiles in town. Still, Spencer had his school permit, and we decided that was good enough to haul a snowmobile out to the pit… In the back of Spencer's Suburban. After struggling for a few hours, we could somewhat fit the snowmobile in the car. Another time we decided to go sledding with a kayak and use a hockey stick to steer... this ended with a few bruises. As kids, we grew up playing little league baseball together. Also, starting at a young age, we would spend the fall and winter seasons at the pit, going hunting or fishing, spending the summer up at my family's cabin, last minute trips to hang out in college, to be in each other's weddings… Spencer and I have enough stories for a lifetime, and we will continue to make more.

Bailey is Brenna’s younger sister. Unfortunately you may not get to see her at the wedding, as she and her husband Garrett are expecting their first baby girl THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING!!! Spencer and Brenna are SO excited to be gaining a niece. Fingers crossed they make it!

Spencer and I met several times when we were younger in sports, but didn’t become friends until high school. We played baseball together and hung out almost every day. Spencer and I have made so many memories since then, most of them while out hunting or fishing. The common interest in the outdoors is what sparked our friendship and is still our main topic of conversation. He’s a very selfless guy and a great friend.

I first met Brenna when she interviewed for a job at The Cowboy in Laramie. It was quick to see she had one of the biggest hearts and brightest personalities of anyone I’d ever met. After a short time of working together, we went from co-workers to friends, to someone who was a constant in my life. After Brenna moved back to Alaska after finishing her undergrad I had been so sad not having her around but when she was coming back to visit that summer, Spencer’s roommate at the time and I schemed of setting Brenna and Spencer up so that maybe Brenna would want to move back to Wyoming… lucky for all of us I think our plan worked. It has been so special to watch life fall into place and all the events that have brought us to this point where get to celebrate Brenna and Spencer getting MARRIED!

Spencer and I first met playing travel baseball in Sioux City when we were 10 years old, then we played against each other in high school but stayed in touch all the time. We were then teammates and roommates at morningside and have pretty much been really good friends since we were 10. My favorite memory of Spence is just being roommates and teammates with him in college.

During eighth grade English class, Spencer’s assigned seat was right behind me. One day, Spencer had to keep going up to the front of the class, and every time he would walk by me he would poke/bother me. This happened repeatedly. Finally I told Spencer, “if you do that one more time I am going to make a scene”. Of course knowing Spencer,  he couldn’t resist the challenge and did it one more time. As he poked me for the last time, I grabbed onto his arm and fell out out of my seat onto the floor making a huge commotion. Of course the teacher noticed and asked Spencer if he really just did that. I went along playing innocence and agreed with her.  Spencer was then kicked out of class into the hallway. A little bit later, the teacher went out into the hallway to talk to Spencer. Thinking I was off the hook,  I went up to the window looking out into the hallway. The teacher was talking to Spencer with her back towards me. I started taunting Spencer through the window by pointing and laughing. This made Spencer smile/laugh as he saw me in the window. The teacher whipped her head around and caught me red-handed.  She gestured for me to join them out in the hallway. As she was scolding both of us Spencer and I could not stop laughing.  We continued laughing all the way to principal’s office.
