How we Met

Brenna grew up in Anchorage, AK and moved to Wyoming for college. Spencer grew up and went to college in Iowa. In 2019, Brenna graduated from the University of Wyoming and moved back to Alaska, while Spencer graduated from Morningside College and took a chance on moving to Wyoming for a nursing job at the hospital in Laramie.

In July of 2019, Brenna flew down to Laramie for one last “hurrah” with all her friends before starting life in Alaska. The first night in town, she met up with some friends for a girl’s night out, and one asked if she could bring her new roommate from Iowa (guess who!) Little did Brenna know this friend had told Spencer before leaving the house that he had to meet this girl from Alaska and fall in love so she would move back to Wyoming. It’s safe to say God works in wonderful ways, because 3 days into that trip Brenna decided to move back to Wyoming, and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Spencer proposed on July 11, 2022. Anyone who knows Brenna will tell you she has been dreaming of and anticipating this day FOREVER! Brenna’s parents were visiting from AK, and everyone was out at the Johnson’s family ranch for a long weekend. Saturday came and went, then Sunday passed and nothing… Brenna truthfully started getting a little grumpy because it seemed like Spencer was going to miss the perfect opportunity to pop the question!

On Monday morning Spencer and Brenna woke up early to have coffee, and Spencer suggested they walk down to the dock to feed the fish and watch the sunrise over the pond. Brenna did not think anything of it because she had just woken up and was tired and still slightly grumpy. They made it down to the dock to see a beautiful pink and orange sunrise. Spencer stepped back and when Brenna turned around, he was down on one knee, it could not have been more perfect!!
