Roth and I met @ Illinois State University while waiting tables. We went on a handful of dates while I lived in Chicago and he was in Champaign, mostly our hometown friends weddings. Life was a bit wild for the both of us at that time. I was in graduate school and Roth was starting his career. Roth began traveling the world working and ended up moving from Chicago to San Francisco about the same time I left Chicago for Colorado.

Fast forward a handful of years...

COVID hit and things got weird. As lockdowns eased and restaurants opened I started thinking about a birthday trip to San Francisco. I messaged Roth for travel recommendations since he had been living there. He gave me an amazing list, told me that San Fran was on fire and that he was moving to Denver.

I asked Roth out for a beer at the Breck Brewery when he moved to Denver in September 2020. Funny thing, he showed up 30 minutes late and thought I had invited a crew of our old coworkers (not sure where he got that idea so in that 30 minutes of waiting I had almost downed a flight and basket of french fries). After a great time catching up, Roth dropped me back off at my apartment that happened to be close to his new place. I had barely made it up the stairs when Roth called and asked if I wanted to go back out for the evening to celebrate his friends birthday - that is why he had been late, Roth was painting a birthday card. Of course I said yes and ran back downstairs.

That sort of sums the story up! I knew when we first met that Roth was a very special person and the moment that he walked into the Breck Brewery for our second first date it was confirmed he was the man I wanted to build a family with and grow old with. I still have yet to make it to San Fran. We are planning a trip. :)
