At the North Carolina Museum of Art, we believe in the transformative power of art. Through the People’s Collection, the state art collection that belongs to the citizens of North Carolina, and our 164-acre Park, we strive to create a sense of welcome and belonging.
Our collection galleries span more than 5,000 years, from antiquity to the present, and provides countless cultural experiences for the people of our state and beyond. The Museum Park showcases the connection between art and nature through site-specific works of art and notable programming. Both are free to visit.
We also offer changing special exhibitions, classes, lectures, family activities, films, dance performances, and concerts.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is the Southeast’s largest natural history museum, complete with its Nature Exploration Center and Nature Research Center, with four floors of exhibits, live animals, gift shops and cafés. Explore on a variety of different self-guided tours through all the different exhibits.
In the Nature Exploration Center, you can view more than a dozen exhibits from coastal to prehistoric North Carolina, see a live sloth in the Living Conservatory, engage in hands-on activities in the Discovery Room and experience life as a bug in the Arthropod Zoo. Here, you can also visit the world’s most complete Acrocanthosaurus dinosaur, the “Terror of the South.”
The Raleigh Market at the Historic N.C. State Fairgrounds has been a triangle tradition since 1971. Our fun, family-friendly atmosphere draws tens of thousands of shoppers every weekend. The flea market showcases more than 500 vendors, offering everything from antiques and collectibles to handicrafts, furniture, homemade goodies, clothing, jewelry, and…well, the list just goes on and on! Open Saturday and Sunday, 9am-5pm. Admission and parking are Free!
