Steph and Sara met on the first day of the Spring 2012 semester, and soon became best friends and big/little; they even got celebrate their birthdays together every year (Sara is exactly 364 days older). A few years after they had both graduated, Steph moved to NYC to be with Sara. In 2021 they moved down to SC, became roommates, and adopted Milo the cat. Steph couldn't imagine having anyone else as her maid of honor because they're not just friends, they're sisters.
Jenna Gilder - Bridesmaid
Steph and Jenna met when they were seniors at Elon because Jenna needed a place to live and Steph needed a fourth person for her apartment. Luckily neither them were serial killers, and they became fast friends, always laughing until they cried (so they didn't cry about life); Steph even introduced Jenna to her now husband. In 2022, Steph officiated (and was a bridesmaid at) Jenna's wedding, and Steph is so excited to have Jenna standing by her side this time.
Emily Benson Chatzky - Bridesmaid
Steph and Emily met through Jenna their senior year at Elon and celebrated events together like Elonthon and Festivus. They became close when they were both bridesmaids in Jenna's wedding, sharing a room at the bachelorette party, traveling to the wedding together, and sharing a house for the wedding weekend. Emily has a knack for making anyone feel appreciated and special, and Steph considers herself lucky to have Emily by her side. Steph just hopes that Emily will leave behind her desire to make Steph laugh at the most inappropriate times.
Matt Compton - Best Man
Chris and Matt met in 6th grade when they sat next to each other in homeroom because both of their last names started with C; alphabetical order predestined their lives together. Chris will never forget the time Matt fell into a drainage ditch squealing like a pig because he couldn't get up, so he started rolling around in the mud. Chris asked Matt to be a groomsman because he is the man, the myth, the legend, and someone who has been there for so many years (and more to come)!
Nick Socky - Groomsman
Chris played trombone and Nick played tuba in middle school, so they sat next to each other being in the brass section. Chris will never forget the time they built a giant trebuchet that could fling a tennis ball over 50 yards. Nick's building capabilities never cease to amaze him.
Chris asked Nick to be a groomsman because he has been a critical person in his life who has helped him grow into the man he is today. Nick has inspired Chris to be more fun loving and adventurous than he is naturally.
Josh Mitts - Groomsman
Chris and Josh officially met when they attended Steph's and Sara's friend's wedding, but they had talked on the phone whenever Sara would call Josh and put him on speakerphone. Chris loves talking about the law with Josh; whenever he watches Law and Order he writes down all of his questions to ask Josh the next time they speak. Chris asked Josh to be a groomsman because they always have such a good time together, and Chris loves having someone to have deep, intellectual conversations with.
Mason Stalph - Groomsman
Chris and Mason met at his and Jenna's wedding weekend and they bonded when the girls had to get ready at 7am, while the boys went to a late breakfast and watched sports. Chris will never forget when he, Mason, Steph, and Jenna were on a trip together and Steph and Jenna conspired to make them show up in matching Hawaiian shirts; the looks on their faces were priceless. Chris asked Mason to be a groomsman because he always makes him laugh, an important quality to have on a big day such as this one.
Alex Sherry - Officiant
Steph and Alex met freshman year at Elon when they both joined Alpha Chi Omega. They remained close throughout college - dancing at sorority formals, going on InterVarsity retreats, and geeking out about being Hufflepuffs. As one of Steph's first friends at Elon, she is excited to have Alex preside over the ceremony and play such an important role in the big day - she will also be Steph's something blue!
