There are two major airports servicing Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris Orly (ORY). Most flights from the US will fly into CDG; however, both airports are relatively close to the city center. For those looking to explore other cities on their trip, another option is to fly in to the London Heathrow airport (LHR). You can then take the Eurostar train to Paris--this trip is approximately 2 hours depending on the time of day.
How do I get from Charles de Gaulle airport to Paris?
You have a few options!
You may take a taxi. Do make sure it is a marked cab with a meter--do not get in an unmarked car or go with anyone soliciting you at baggage claim. They probably won't kidnap you, but they will likely charge you far more than you would otherwise pay.
Uber is very popular in Paris and the app works just the same as it does in the US. Uber is also typically less expensive than a traditional taxi.
One of the most cost effective options is to take the train into the city, RER Line B. There are signs (in English and French) that will guide you to where you need to go. Ticket stations will be located just before the access point for the train's platform. Be sure to purchase the fare option for the Paris Metro area as a conductor does come around to validate your ticket. The train ride is between 25 to 50 minutes depending on which station you get off at.
Where should I stay?
Anywhere you would like! We have not set up a room block anywhere but have listed a few wonderful options near the venue for your convenience. Part of the magic of Paris is exploring its many vibrant neighborhoods; so feel free to stay wherever pleases you! Airbnb is also an excellent option, both pricewise and experience-wise, if you are 1 to 4 people in a group. Paris city apartments do tend to be smaller; so larger groups looking to stay together will often pay more as large multi-bedroom apartments and homes are less common here.
