Letchworth State Park

45 mins away but we highly recommend! Letchworth State Park, the Grand Canyon of the East, is where a 17-mile stretch of the Genesee River roars through the parks scenic gorge with three major waterfalls and cliffs as high as 600 feet, surrounded by lush forests. Recently named Best State Park in the nation, Letchworths new Humphrey Nature Center is a must-see. Walk the seven-mile Gorge Trail with jaw-dropping views at the overlooks or take the trail to the waters edge.

Watkins Glen

An hour away but we highly recommend! Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glens stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge.

If you have an extra day to spend in Upstate New York, we highly recommend spending a day checking out Taughannock state park (an hour away from Canandaigua), it is a 215-foot plunge waterfall that is the highest single-drop waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains and is less than a mile each way to hike. Taughannock is on the beautiful Cayuga finger lake and is only 15 minutes from our FAV winery called Thirsty Owl, which is also right on the water (Stephanie and Harvey spent many beautiful days visiting this winery when he would come to visit her in college).
