We suggest flying into either one of the following two airports:
(BJX) BAJIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, LEON/GUANAJUATO
(QRO) QUERETARO INTERCONTINENTAL AIRPORT, MEXICO
(please see below for details)
When booking, please consider the amount of time it takes to travel to and from the airport (about an hour and thirty minutes). Basically, make sure you land early enough in the day to partake in the Friday evening festivities and on your departure, avoid getting an early morning flight so you're not waking up and rushing to the airport before the sun rises!
If you have any questions when booking travel, please feel free to reach out!
(BJX) BAJIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, LEON/GUANAJUATO
The Leon airport is about an hour and thirty minutes from San Miguel. It is by far the most used for people traveling to San Miguel because of the flight options.
(QRO) QUERETARO AIRPORT, MEXICO
The Queretaro airport is about an hour and fifteen minutes away from San Miguel. There are a few flights a day available here on various airlines.
Mexico City International Airport (MEX)
Flying into Mexico City is also an option, but please note it is a ~4 hour drive to San Miguel de Allende from Mexico City.
Booking Tips:
Volaris is a popular Mexican airline that frequently flies into QRO and BJX. Make sure to check the Volaris website directly when booking as Volaris flights won't always show up on third party booking sites.

For those traveling from Southern California, Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) offers more flights to BJX and QRO than other major airports including LAX and San Diego International Airport. To fly out of TIJ, you will enter the airport via Cross Border Xpress in San Diego and cross the border within the airport (you don't actually have to drive or walk across the border into Tijuana first). Note that you will need a separate Cross Border Xpress ticket which costs $25 USD each way. We have done this multiple times on trips to San Miguel and it is very easy!

There are several transportation options that will take you from your chosen airport to San Miguel de Allende. Please do not try and rent a car and drive. Please book your round trip shuttle in advance at any of the recommended providers below.
You can also reach out to any of your hotels or Airbnbs for help with transportation! Most will be able to arrange cars for you. Please plan to pay with cash in person.
If you are experiencing any difficulty booking your transportation, please reach out to us. We are happy to help with your travel arrangements.
We have used Pascual and his team for transportation to and from the QRO and BJX airport many times! Pascual will also arrange a ride from Mexico City (MEX) if needed. Email to reserve and let him know you are with Stephanie Leimbach & George Nausha's wedding!
San Miguel has beautiful Air Bnbs. If you're traveling with a larger group and want to experience more of the SMA culture, booking a large hacienda would be a great way to spend the weekend! Air Bnbs are typically cheaper than hotels in SMA.
We recommend booking a house that is in the city and not on the outskirts. The easiest way to ensure this is to find a place that is around El Jardin, the town square. All of the weekend's events will be in walking distance of this area.
San Miguel de Allende has over 100 beautiful boutique hotels to choose from! We have one room block at Casa 1810 Parque (see below) and have suggested some other great options below.
