Museums

While you're in DC, take advantage of some of our favorite museums. We love the National Gallery of Art (6th St and Constitution Ave NW) and sculpture garden, Portrait Gallery (8th and F Streets NW), African American History Museum (1400 Constitution Ave) and Natural History Museum (10th St. & Constitution Ave. NW ).

Restaurants

DC has some of the best restaurants. Here are some of our favorites near the Butler Center:

Oyamel Cocina Mexicana - We love Chef Jose Andres' Mexican restaurant in Penn Quarter. You can't go wrong with the cochinita tacos and a pitcher of their famous margaritas with salt air. 401 7th St NW

Can't get a table at Oyamel? Jose Andres' Jaleo or China Chilcano are other excellent options in the same neighborhood.

Little Serow - Billy and I were lucky enough to live just around the corner from the best northern Thai restaurant in the DC area, which quickly became our favorite. We recommend getting there around 4pm to put your name in with the hostess and then heading to Fox and Hounds for some drinks while you wait. While it can seem like a pain, it is totally worth the wait. 1511 17th Street NW

Colada Shop - Great for a quick bite anytime. We love coming here for fresh coffee in the mornings and cocktails and Cubanos at night. If it's warm enough check out their roof top garden. 1405 T Street NW

Maxwell Park - Maxwell has some of the best wines in DC and is a perfect place to start or end your night. 1336 9th Street NW
