It was September of 2021 when Steven and Ashley first met. They are both a part of a Christian ministry for veterans and first responders called Advancing Warriors. The creator and developer of Advancing Warriors, Ellie, schedules meet ups at her house for all participants of Advancing Warriors. Steven introduced himself to Ashley by giving her a hug and wanted her to sit next to him during the group Bible study. A month later, they spent a weekend with Ellie and her new husband at the time, Dan, for a facilitator training for Tribe, one of the group programs. It was during that weekend where Steven and Ashley got to know each other really well, including the sharing of both their testimony’s. They exchanged numbers after that weekend and planned to get together in the weeks to come. It was in November where Ashley was finally winterizing her backyard and Steven offered to help her. Little did he know how much she didn’t like yard work, yet he still came over to help her. Afterwards, they went out to eat and spent a fun laid back evening together. As the next few months went by, they spent time together, doing different activities, but it was clear the timing for them was not right, yet they still remained friends and talked from time to time. Steven and Ashley always felt a draw towards each other. God had a specific plan in mind for them.

In July of 2023, Ellie and Dan had another meet up, where Steven and Ashley saw each other, once again, the first time in a year. They were drawn to each other again and knew clearly, God was pulling them to each other. July 30th of 2023, they went on a fun water world date; it was during that time that it was clear to both Steven and Ashley it was finally the right time for them to be together. By September, they had completely fallen in love with each other. On December 13, 2023, on a beautiful snowy night, Steven asked Ashley to marry him and of course she said YES!

Now they are enjoying the wedding planning and house buying process! Steven and Ashley can’t wait to officially be husband and wife on November 8, 2024!
