Ashley and I met about nine years ago. At that time we both worked for a school. She was the SRO and I worked as a para educator. Towards the end of the year, Ashley invited to go out with her for her birthday. We had a great time celebrating her and became quick friends. The years have flown by and I’m grateful for her friendship. We’ve had many wonderful experiences together including camping, line dancing, craft markets, and wine tastings. I am thrilled to see her become a wife, knowing how long she’s been praying for this life step. Steven and Ashley are truly meant to be together. I can’t wait to celebrate with you on your special day.
Ellie Strathman - Bridesmaid
I met Ashley in a veteran and first responder group that I was running at church in 2021 through Advancing Warriors.
I could see her passion for the truth and desire to follow Jesus. I had already know Steven for a few years before I met her through Advancing Warriors. I knew off the bat that both of them would be great leaders and invited them to the same facilitator training retreat. In the back of my mind, I thought they would also be a great match, but didn’t want to influence them to play matchmaker since that wasn’t the reason they were at the training. I didn’t have to. They are amazing people and amazing together. I’m excited to see how God continues to bless their relationship!
Davanee West - Bridesmaid
Me and Ashley met around the end of September in 2023 for a basketball tournament and we instantly got along and had so much in common. I knew right away we were going to get along very well. We have already made so many memories together and I can’t wait to make more. I love her personality and how she’s not afraid to be herself. I’m also glad she makes my dad very happy. She’s a great addition to our family and I am very excited she is going to be apart of the family and to call her my stepmom.
Colin - Best Man
Steve West and Colin Franz. Crossed paths trying to figure out how to navigate the path God had us on. Definitely been through some heartbreaking times together. But that’s why steve is my brother. Thicker than blood and he’s a vital organ in our inner circle of men. Steve West, myself, Keita Andrews, Doug Alcala, Paul (whoops), Joe Trujillo, Landon (whoops again), have all spent many years taking all 12 steps to freedom in Christ together and it’s an honor to stand beside my brother Stephen (Ste-f-en) on this day of love.
Paul Johnson - Groomsman
I first met Steve at CR. I recognized his brokenness when he came in because I too had been that broken. He sat next to me that first night. I honestly didn't expect to see him come back, but he did and he continued to sit next to me. Then he started attending the same church service that I was in and he sat next to me there too.
The thing that impressed me most about Steve was how honest he was with me about his wounds. Over time we became accountability partners. Because of that, our relationship took off in a way that neither one of us expected. He is my brother, I would lay down my life for him and he would do the same for me. I moved away and can't see him as often as I used to, but I talk to him regularly.
The first time I met Ashley was during an online class I started taking with Ellie. My first thought when I met her was... "Wow, she would be great for Steve" . When he told me they were dating, I knew it was just a matter of time before they would get married. I've never seen Steve happier than he is with you.
