As a sophomore, she saw potential in him and immediately began plotting and scheming to get him to stay on the team.

Shortly after, Ella confessed her feelings to Stuart while sitting and talking in Carleton's Japanese Gardens. (Stuart thought she meant as friends but it was clarified later that day.)
