We are excited to celebrate our wedding day with everyone, and grateful to everyone who has been with us on this journey. I know this has been a long time coming lol. For those traveling with us to Vietnam, to help you prepare for your international trip we've listed information under the 'Wedding FAQs' and 'Travel to Vietnam' pages.

RSVP deadline and details

When do we have to RSVP by?

The sooner the better, but preferably no later than the 1st of Januaray 2024, please! We need to give the hotel a final headcount for seating on the day of the wedding.

How do we RSVP?

You can RSVP via the website

OR email to Lnguyen59@gmail.com or shwehyan@gmail.com

OR text us at +1 (510) 585-7529 or +1 (510) 378-4965

VISA to travel to vietnam

How do we get a Visa for Vietnam?

See 'Travel to Vietnam'. Once you have booked and received your flight schedule, along with your passport details, please fill out the following link BEFORE you leave your departure country. Please remember, you WILL NOT be able to enter Vietnam without this Visa.

For US residents please note

If you have a USA passport, put USA under ‘current nationality’. This is very important. Do not put your ethnicity. That will be wrong, and you will have to pay again for a new e-visa.

Transportation

Where is the wedding?

The wedding event will take place at Naman Retreat in Da Nang (https://www.namanretreat.com/en).

How do I get to the wedding?

If you are staying at Naman resort, and have reservation details. Please email us the reservation information so we can organize transportation with the resort. We will need a headcount for this one month in advance (by early March).

How do I get around Vietnam?

There is ‘Grab’ which is equivalent to Uber and Lyft. When you download the app, they will pick you up and drop you off to your destinations.

Currency Exchange

What is the local currency?

Vietnamese dong (VND) is what is currently used in Vietnam. Due to inflation, you will be an instant millionaire and billionaire in Vietnam, as US $1 is equivalent to VND $24.5K | US $10 is $245K | US $100 is $2.45 million.

How do I exchange money in Vietnam?

You can exchange money when you arrive at the airport. If you need more exchanged later on during the trip, our family can help you exchange money. You can use your credit card at major tourist areas (hotels, restaurant, and malls.) We recommend bringing cash to go shopping and eating out.

Wedding & Casual Attire

What is the wedding dress code?

We recommend something light and flowy as it will be hot and humid. We will be taking lots of photos, so feel free to dress to impress.

What should I wear casually?

If you’re staying at a resort, you might want to bring a nice shirt/pants or dress and a pair of shoes. Different places have different dress codes, so check with your concierge. Otherwise, wear something comfortable suitable for humid/tropical weather.

What shoes should I pack?

We have found that flip flops, sandals, and sneakers are most comfortable to travel in Vietnam, especially as you'll be doing lots of walking.

What other items do you recommend?

Swimwear and whatever clothing you’ll need for any beach or water activities you plan to do. The resort will have a towel, but if you are going anywhere else around Vietnam, we recommend you pack at least 2 towels.

Safety

How safe is Vietnam?

Vietnam is known for its friendliness and rich culture. Most of the locals are use to tourists, however traveling internationally to any country can be dangerous. Please bring some type of fanny pack or sling that you can put your money in and hold it close to your body. Do not carry money in your pockets.

PACKING & Travel TIPS

What will I need to board my flight?

At the bare minimum if you plan to travel with just yourself, please ensure you have an updated passport and an e-visa that will cover the dates you plan to stay in Vietnam.

Not essential, but handy to have:

An electronic or printed copy of your itinerary/reservation codes (hotel, flight). Credit card and some cash; make sure you notify your bank of exact travel dates.

Do I need a travel adapter?

In Vietnam the power plug sockets are of type A, C and D. The standard voltage is 110 / 220 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. If you are from the US, your chargers will work here in Vietnam. For non-US residents, preferably pack your own travel adapter or you can request from your hotel (subject to availability).

What toiletries do I need?

Most goods can be purchased at the airport, convenient stall or mall. However not all US-based products can be sourced in Vietnam, so we recommend to bring your own toiletries (eg. shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, and toothpaste).

How clean is Vietnam?

Most upscale hotels and airbnbs have good sanitation standards. However, please do not drink any tap water, ONLY consume bottled water from the hotel or purchased at the shops. We recommend bringing travel-size hand sanitisers, napkins/tissues, feminine wipes when you are out in public.

What medication should I bring?

You can source most active compounds from the local pharmacy, but we recommend that you make a “med kit” and fill it up with items such as Advil, Tylenol, Imodium, stool softener, tums, vitamins, liquid IV’s, band aids, neosporin and alcohol wipes. Also bring bug spray/mosquito repellent, especially at night time around water sources.

What suncare do I need?

Vietnam can get very hot especially during the day, bring a high SPF sunblock and reapply often, and aloe if you burn easily. Sunglasses, hats and masks are handy to have for further sun protection.

Lastly, What does the groom require?

The groom requires that everyone checks in at least 2 bottles of Hennessy VSOP or greater for the wedding day.
