Nearly 6 years ago in September 2009, Tara and Josh met the way many new college freshmen do, through a mutual friend on the way to a party. They hit it off right away with dancing and discussions about who they were, inspired by Josh's awesome tattoo. From then on they were inseparable, sharing their interests, values, and beliefs, as well as hugs, laughs, and feelings that would swiftly grow into a love unlike any they'd ever known.
4 years, 2 cats, and 1 new apartment later, Josh and Tara's relationship was stronger than ever. They'd discussed the future many times, and each was certain that it included the other. One night after recently graduating college, Tara suggested they go out on a date night. On the way back home from a delicious steak dinner, she asked Josh if he wouldn't mind swinging by William and Mary campus, as she was "feeling nostalgic". Josh agreed, and they made their way to one of their favorite hangout spots on campus. Little did Josh know he would find a note there, talking about the memories and good times they'd had as a couple at that spot and directing him to the next place they'd go. After hitting several of their favorite places, walking hand in hand and reminiscing, they finally ended up at the bench by the Crimdell Bridge where they shared their first kiss. Josh opened the final note, and rather than a reminiscent message he found a question at the end of a haiku: "Will you marry me?" He looked up from the note to see Tara on one knee with a ring. She asked him and he immediately said yes.
As the engagement period comes to an end and the beginning of their married life draws nearer, Tara and Josh are reminded every day of how lucky they are to have each other and how special their bond is.
