It all began with a prayer. Tara was tired of swiping on dating apps and getting poor quality results. She deleted them in frustration and prayed, “God, I am ready for my husband. Please send him my way; I am ready for whoever you have picked for me."

Only a few weeks later did they meet. Tara was a baby project manager on her first solo project in Memorial Park in downtown Houston, and Jacob was a foreman on the job site making sure her crew wasn’t breaking anything. He thought she was cute, but had a job to do. She thought he was rough around the edges and didn't like him all that much at first. After a rough first day or two on the job together, things smoothed out and gave them opportunities to have regular conversations whenever Jacob came to "check" on her project's progress. Tara began to soften towards him and think that he wasn't so bad after all.

Eventually he asked her to have a little date after work. She waited around at the park until he was done with his work for the day, and they had a pizza picnic. They had meaningful conversations and both made it known that they were looking for something real, and lasting. Jacob knew that night that he was going to marry her some day. Tara got the feeling that maybe this was the man that God had sent to her to answer her prayer. They shared their first kiss.

The rest is a whirlwind! Pandemic of COVID-19 hits, and they had to start dating in such a time of uncertainty. Of course the couple broke the rule of social distancing. They experienced snow-mageddon in the worst way with frozen pipes and busted ceilings resulting in a flooded first rental home together. They went through career changes and a big move together. So much was learned about the hardships of how to survive in the adult world, together. All of this was done hand in hand the whole way. Their love can truly conquer anything.

Jacob proposed on September 10th, 2023. Both Tara and Jacob have never been more certain about anything else in their lives. The whirlwind of their love and life continues!
