Taylor and Andrew first met in college, where they were in the same geochemistry course online in late 2020, but they didn't know each other very well then. After graduating and continuing on to graduate school, they got to know each other better through a few more classes, and ended up falling in love. They went on their first date in the summer of 2021. They had only planned on going to dinner that night, but after eating, they sat in the car together and decided that the night wasn't over yet! They ended up driving together all over town, got lost on back roads, walked down a hiking trail, and even dropped by the college to snoop around the geology department! (Yes, we're both nerds...). They continued dating, and on December 23, 2023, Andrew proposed while Taylor was distracted by a giant mushroom they found, on that same hiking trail they walked down on their first date. Taylor said yes, by the way.
