Our Story

The first date

Taylor and Jake met on one of the coldest nights on record on January 31, 2019. With temperatures reaching almost -60 degrees, Jake almost missed the first date when his car didn't start. Thankfully for him, Taylor had a beer and about 5 different college basketball games to keep her occupied at Bar Louie until he arrived. That night, they talked basketball and life until they were the last ones there. Little did they know, it was just the start of their adventure. In the next 5 years to follow, life would change drastically as they started their lives together.

Taylor and Jake very quickly found that they would be good travel buddies. Shortly after their first date, they traveled to Minneapolis for the 2019 Final Four for Jake's birthday and together checked off a huge bucket list item. Their seats at US Bank stadium were almost reaching where they were on cloud 9.

That year, Taylor and Jake found what would be their very first Christmas tradition seeing A Christmas Carol at the Pabst theatre in Milwaukee.

That year, Taylor and Jake found what would be their very first Christmas tradition seeing A Christmas Carol at the Pabst theatre in Milwaukee.
2020 was a big year, not only for Jake and Taylor but for the world. Jake got his first internship with NASA, which had him head over heels for his work. During a time when it felt like COVID made the world come to a complete halt, their worlds just kept speeding up. After Jake's summer in Florida, he moved back to WI and Taylor and Jake moved in together for the first time. After both living (and thriving) on their own, it was time to learn how to live with someone else. This was also when Jake realized their was a right and wrong way to load the dishwasher.

2020 was a big year, not only for Jake and Taylor but for the world. Jake got his first internship with NASA, which had him head over heels for his work. During a time when it felt like COVID made the world come to a complete halt, their worlds just kept speeding up. After Jake's summer in Florida, he moved back to WI and Taylor and Jake moved in together for the first time. After both living (and thriving) on their own, it was time to learn how to live with someone else. This was also when Jake realized their was a right and wrong way to load the dishwasher.
2021 started off as the year of hurry up and wait as many timelines and moving plans came and went. As Jake graduated UWM and was now planning on working full time at KSC, they were still working out when would be the official move. As these many tentative moving dates and plans appeared, they made many trips to FL to shop for houses in a one of the most difficult housing markets of all time. What originally left them disappointed, made them eventually realize that there was more in store for them in the future.

2021 started off as the year of hurry up and wait as many timelines and moving plans came and went. As Jake graduated UWM and was now planning on working full time at KSC, they were still working out when would be the official move. As these many tentative moving dates and plans appeared, they made many trips to FL to shop for houses in a one of the most difficult housing markets of all time. What originally left them disappointed, made them eventually realize that there was more in store for them in the future.

Between moving companies not showing up, to Taylor having the bright idea to convince Jake that they could make the entire drive straight (totaling 26 hours), to unpacking and moving in entirely in less than 8 hours. They could finally rest as they sat in their new temporary home in FL.

Finally move in day came and went with many speed bumps and hurdles to overcome. Between moving companies not showing up, to Taylor having the bright idea to convince Jake that they could make the entire drive straight (totaling 26 hours), to unpacking and moving in entirely in less than 8 hours. They could finally rest as they sat in their new temporary home in FL.
For some reason, Taylor and Jake hadn't had enough change this year, so they introduced the newest member of their little family, Apollo. Little did they know, this "little man" would bring more laughs and smiles than they could count.

And as much as they enjoyed their new found home in FL, Taylor couldn't help but keep her WI roots and traditions with their little family. Jake was still pouting that the Vikings were still losing.

In July, after a crazy start to the year and both Jake and Taylor taking new promotions, and some weeks working way too much, they took their favorite trip to date together to Glacier National Park. This took their relationship to new heights as they challenged themselves and pushed each other to overcome some of their own fears of heights.

During this trip, Taylor found her new found love of the mountains, and Jake found his new favorite picture of them.

And after what started as browsing houses on a whim, turned into buying their first home together, Taylor and Jake celebrated in their very new and very empty home with none other than Spotted Cow by the pool.

But it was just 3 days after moving in that they experienced their very first hurricane as Ian was rolling in quickly. With taking as much advice from anyone they knew, they embraced the storm with the only way they knew how. Thankfully, all went well for them.

Taylor and Jake worked hard to make this new home theirs, and made sure to keep a little bit of WI in their new FL home. They built their relationship on games and competitiveness and made sure that was highlighted in their new home so a game room was a must!

And just when they thought that they had a year full of change and life events, Jake surprised Taylor with the biggest question, and asked her to marry him. So surprised, she needed a reminder to say YES out loud and not just scream it in her head.
