Our Story

Tia and Kevin’s paths crossed in Huntsville in 2019, after both had moved to the city for work. Tia had also come to Huntsville to continue her education at UAH, where she pursued her master’s degree and later her PhD. What began as a simple meeting quickly became something more; at least to Tia. Kevin, however, was completely oblivious to the fact that Tia liked him in any way, shape, or form, despite her making it (by her account) extremely obvious. Before long, Kevin finally caught on, and the two began dating. From there, their relationship grew through both everyday moments and major milestones. They started to build a life together, adopting dogs, traveling, and tackling DIY projects that somehow required five extra trips to Lowe’s every single time. All the while, they supported each other’s demanding careers and passions. Kevin poured his time and energy into lacrosse, while Tia led and supported multiple national societies within the Human Factors field while pursuing her PhD in Applied Experimental Psychology, each cheering the other on every step of the way. Along the way, they’ve both endured a few things purely out of love. Tia has bravely sat through countless Patriots football games, hours of Deadliest Catch, and now knows far more about wrestlers’ entrance music and lacrosse than she ever planned to. Kevin, in return, has learned the names of many, many coworkers as Tia’s career has taken off like a rocket ship, attempted to learn how to dance, attended more 5K races and professional events than he ever imagined, and mastered the art of enthusiastically cheering from finish lines and nodding along during Human Factors conversations. Through it all, they’ve laughed a lot and it only brought them closer. In May of 2025, after years of love, teamwork, and shared adventures, Kevin got down on one knee. By that point, they both knew what they had built was something special and lasting. Saying “yes” was easy, because Kevin and Tia already knew they were each other’s right choice; now and always. And while the dogs Waffle, Moose, and Stinks will be staying home, Kevin and Tia are beyond excited to celebrate the next chapter of their story with the people they love most. They can’t wait to gather with family and friends in Florida at the Howey Mansion this September to begin their forever together.
