The San Juan ferries are not always reliable, especially during busy seasons (summer). Please make a ferry reservation in advance to ensure you secure a spot on the boat. You can make ferry reservations via Washington State Ferries Reservations.

Cost for the ferry includes ~ $15 per person round trip, ~ $58 per vehicle, ~ $20 per reservation (reservations pay for one person). Carpooling is recommended!

Feeling extra and wanting to skip the driving and ferry ride, luckily there is the option to travel by seaplane! This is definitely not the most affordable option but will be a great experience. For more information on traveling by seaplane visit Kenmore Air to book your travel.

From the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, allow a minimum of 2 1/2 hours driving time to Anacortes and plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your ferry is scheduled to depart. Follow road signs to the freeway. Drive north to enter eastbound on 518. You will need to get on I-5 North, just follow the road signs. Take I-5 North for approximately 85 miles to state route 20. Take exit 230, turn left at the light and follow the signs into downtown Anacortes. Turn left on 12th Street. Our terminal is 4 to 5 miles outside town.

Island Airporter is another service that provides transportation from Sea-Tac Airport to Friday Harbor.
