Windsor

Windsor has lots to offer with pubs, restaurants, and shops. It's mostly known for its castle, which is a cool thing to see and visit (closed on Monday and Tuesday). Make sure you go out to the side of the castle on the Long Walk and look for the statue of King George III in the distance. St. George's Chapel on the castle grounds has a free ~45-minute choir service (Evensong) at 5:15 PM that is worth going to if you're in Windsor for the day (every day but Wednesday).

London

If you're joining us in Old Windsor for the wedding, we'd recommend spending at least a day in London. The Elizabeth Line (the nicest and newest) of the London Underground lines runs from Slough to Paddington station and then further into Central London. This line also runs through Heathrow, so you can get from Heathrow to London on the Elizabeth Line if you want to start there. Traveling from Windsor, you can take the train from Windsor and Eton Central to Slough and go from there.

Julia and Tim have lately been staying near Paddington around Kensington/Hyde Park (at Roseate House Hotel) when they visit, but there are so many options for places to stay in London. The area is safe, the park is gorgeous, and transportation throughout London is easy no matter where you stay. On a whistle-stop tour of London be sure to stop by Trafalgar Square, Big Ben/Westminister Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and Covent Garden, to name a few. The double-decker tour buses (e.g. Big Bus Tours) are a good option for seeing everything in a short time frame.

On a longer stay in London, stop by Portobello Road Market, catch a play at the West End (after getting half-price day of tickets in Leicester Square), and check out the Harry Potter studios. If you'd like to experience another country for more sightseeing, different food, or to see the Tour De France take the Eurostar from St. Pancras station under the English Channel to France.

Tim and his family's favorite sporting event. Most tickets to show courts need to be obtained via the lottery system, but some may become available days before (American Express has a partnership). You can also queue up for grounds passes that will give you access to courts 3 through 18 for the day. This is a very fun thing to do, especially during the first week of play! Just be sure to queue up by 8 a.m. or so. For details see https://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/atoz/queueing.html
