Our story

OUR STORY (told by Tobi)

Andrew and I crossed paths on OkCupid, of all places, in February 2020. I poured my heart out on my profile, thanks to Bumble's character limit, or lack thereof. Then, out of the blue, this guy with photos from a decade ago slides into my DMs! At first, I thought I was being catfished, but those blue eyes really got me. What really did it though was his thoughtful follow-up questions that showed he actually read my profile. Shocking, right? But knowing Andrew now, it's not surprising at all.

We messaged back and forth for a week or so, and then Andrew mustered the courage to ask me out for an in-person date. The catch? It was right when the pandemic began, and we were both a bit wary of meeting someone new. Plus, everything was shut down. So, he gave it another shot and suggested a virtual date. I was on the verge of canceling, but I didn't.

That virtual date was a bit bizarre; I could hardly hear him. But despite the technical hiccups, I had a good time. We kept messaging back and forth, and even though he claims I declined another virtual date (oops?), we finally met in person after a whopping 5 MONTHS of texting.

I changed my outfit a good three times before that first real-life meeting. I was nervous that the "texts" wouldn't "match" the person, and I'd have to ghost him. But, boy, was I wrong! We strolled to a nearby park, I offered him wine from a fancy Yeti bottle (classy, right?), and we talked until nearly 11pm. It hit me like a ton of bricks – "this man is truly special, and I could talk to him forever." Fast forward, and now I get to marry him!
