Things To Do:
- Ensure travel documents are up to date
- Check for entry visa requirements (should not be any for CAN travellers at this time)
- Pre-book transport -as needed/desired (there are always taxies and sometimes Ubers available to get you to and from the airport, but it can be nice to pre-book your transport)
- Check transfer times and luggage costs, it's always better to travel lighter close to summer time (it's also good to put a tracker in your bags in case anything happens during transit)
- Learn some Greek if you have a minute :P locals always appreciate the 'hellos' and 'thank yous' in their own language
Things to Bring:
- Passport (+ other needed travel documents)
- Money (while Heraklion is quite credit card friendly, we definitely recommend having some Euros on-hand, smaller towns, bars, and shops may be cash only)
- eSim card -we recommend getting this before you arrive to ensure you have service on the island, Wi-Fi can be spotty (check out: Airalo, Saily, Jetpac, Holafly, instabridge, and AloSIM)
- Tracker Tags (like a Tile or Apple Air Tag to keep track of luggage while traveling but also belongings during your stay)
- Secure Travel bags (Greece is like everywhere else, theft can happen, especially in tourist areas so it's best to have a day bag/hand bag that has zippers, RFID protection, and hard to cut straps)
- Adapters for charging electronics, Greece uses standard EU outlets, so you will need adapters for non-EU cords/plugs
- Sunscreen + Beach wear (it will be summery and sunny in Greece with expected temps around 25-30 degrees celsius, so be prepared w/ hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. as ceremony will be on the beach)
- Reusable water bottle (always good to have on-hand when you're traveling in a hot climate)
- Beach appropriate footwear (with the ceremony and cocktail reception being on the resort beach front, you will need footwear that is comfortable on sand, boardwalk, and potentially rocky terrain.)
- Fun & Festive attire (dress to impress but also be comfy, we recommend lighter, flowy clothing for those hot summer days and something warmer for cooler nights)
- A Party Attitude!
Things to Remember:
- Heraklion is the main city/airport which is 10-15 minutes from our hotel resort: Knossos Beach Bungalow & Suites
- Taxis are the best way to get around the island, Uber may be available in some areas but service can be sparse (same w/ wifi)
- Pre-booking transport, tours, resos is never a bad idea -we will be booking transport for most of the optional activities for the groups
- Resos for a la carte restaurants may be needed since it is a busy resort. However, there are lots of cheap food/drink options nearby as well, Greece is a very affordable place to go out!
- Crete is a big island and awesome to explore! We recommend taking buses if you want to check out some of the other cities on the island like: Chania, Rethimno, and Agios Nikolaus.
- Crete is quite far south and traveling to other islands will be a whole day kind of trip, but there are flights and ferries available if you want to leave the island
Let us know if you have any other Q's! Can't wait to see you all out there!
