Our Wedding

Once upon a time; there were 2 distant strangers who had no idea of each other! These 2 star crossed lovers (whose story doesn’t end in tragedy) although difference in age, share the same exact birthday- February 15th. How ironic, this is where their story begins! Let’s take a moment to introduce you, you have Devona, who the world knows as DJ, and Towan. One raised in South Carolina and the other in DC. You may ask how did these 2 lovers meet, well this author will tell you…. It was by fate, design, and destiny! DJ had lived in the kingdom of Charlotte aka The Queen City for quite a spell before Towan ever even thought about habitating in this distant land. However, as fate, design, and destiny would have it; Towan was offered a magical experience in this new land in 2015. It wasn’t until 2016 until he would make the trek over some 80 miles to enter the Queen City! Prior to relocating, Towan began to search for places, things, and people in the new land. Our star crossed lovers have no idea where, when, or how, they became friends in this Magical app called, Facebook! But again; as fate, design, and destiny would have it, they were connected in a friendship! The friendship between DJ and Towan started not as a traditional hang out, grab drinks, movies, etc., type of friendship. But just merely a “Happy birthday, Birthday twin” for years. In fact it wouldn’t be until 2022, until these lovers first actually meet! Now, here’s the climax of the tale…. If you ask each of them they will both give you two different tales. So here is the tale by Towan’s account… Towan says, “ I don’t remember where or when we first became Facebook friends, I do distinctly remember one year, it snowed in Charlotte and he (DJ) posted a video of him in the hot tub in the back yard with the snow falling and I sent him a message to the effect of, “ohhhh, so I don’t get an invite?”, then after that it was the yearly happy birthday, birthday twin, and sometime after that, I tried to shoot my shot and he shot me down, but let him tell it, I never flirted with him!” So, fast forward to 2022, this part of the tale by Towan’s account, he believes has some similarities 😆. Towan says, one night in 2022 Dj posted a video sometime back on Twitter and I shot my shot at the person who posted it. Unbeknownst to me I would then receive a DN talking about, it’s me! When I say I was shocked, I was like not the lil cute Brien skin birthday twin boy. Eventually we decided to meet in person and it happened to be founders day, and he asked if I wanted to come over for a celebration. Well, I’m not one to turn down a good time, so I went over and every day since then, he been texting me non stop. Here is the tale, by DJ’s account…. DJ says, “it was a cold winter night and I got a DM on Twitter, now known as X. It was Towan shooting his shot in the dark not knowing that he was following my account. When i called him out he was like “Nooo way” and it just happened to be his fraternity’s founder day. So invited him over to a little toast and night cap but he came and never left lol. As you can tell, these 2 star cross lovers have varying accounts, but one thing that this author knows is that, their love was meant to be! Their love story takes its next journey on August 9th 2025. It’s no severe that if you are here reading this tale, you are inevitably apart of this story. As our lovers venture into the land of matrimony, we hope you wish them well, as they sail away into what know and will forever be “HAPPILY EVER AFTER” The End The Beginning

Choosing a best man was no easy task as DJ has some great friends. But having Lamar in this role just made sense. He has a way of almost reading DJ’s mind so that saves on all of the tasks leading up to the big day. A fellow entrepreneur who knows how to handle business and lead in a calm way.

DeVaris and Towan have had an amazing journey of friendship that has turned into a brotherhood. When you need a good laugh, a crying shoulder, or someone to set you straight. Get you a DeVaris in your life. They are brothers for life. #The3Amigos

Jovan and Towan have been friends for over 6 years. Towan wanted to learn piano and Jovan was his instructor for 1 lesson lol. They blossomed a great friendship and now they are brothers for life. #The3Amigos

Childhood friends, Jaron and Towan have been running the streets together for over 20 years. They have been through many of life's ups and downs together and have supported each other through and through. #FAM

Darrell and Towan have been friends since 2016. When you think of someone loyal, funny, compassionate, Darrell is the person that comes to mind. Their friendship is so special and authentic.

A member of #3H (Inside Joke). Lonnie and DJ have been friends for nearly 20 years. DJ leans on Lonnie for a listening ear, always insightful with helping him to navigate any situation and always optimistic. Lonnie is also one of the reason DJ and Towan stay on out of the country as he’s a travel advisor.

Elijah better known as “Eli” has shared so many life events with DJ. They have been besties for almost 20 years. Sharing a love for the arts / theater and music, there is never a dull moment when Eli is around!

Brosins for life. Adrian and DJ are cousins by blood, but are brothers through and through. The love they have for each other is unparalleled.

Jonathan and DJ have ebbed and flowed in and out of spaces since 2000. Never any bad blood but they just never forged a friendship. Now that it has fully “bloomed” they are for sure forever connected. They both share a passion for decor and design and Jonathan is a top sought after florist. He has attributed much to the look of this wedding.

Quincy has known DJ all of his life. A few years apart, but they were raised together sharing so many childhood memories. Two years ago at Quincy’s destination wedding in Jamaica, DJ was able to be there for him and now Q is repaying the honor. When they are together at family functions, you will surely be entertained!

Music was the common force that brought Marcus and DJ together and while DJ is 10 years older, Marcus is his BIG brother as Phi Mu Alpha brothers. A fellow Aquarius, you can rest assured that they are gonna have a birthday party and show up for one another.

Truly an honor to have Mark as a solid friend and on the day of the wedding will make sure that DJ stays cool, calm and collected. Mark has always had DJ’s back and protects him like a true brother. Now don’t think for one second he’s a prude, because all will see that he’s the life of the party!

Gary has shown up for DJ countless times and this occasion is nothing less. Gary’s since of charm, wit and class makes him over qualified to be in DJ’s corner as an Honored Kingsmen. He too will make sure that DJ doesn’t try to go into the sanctuary and fix flowers or make sure a candle is in the right place! His job is to keep DJ on track and focused on being in the moment. Everybody needs a Gary in their life!
