Our Wedding

Our journey began in August 2015, when Travis visited Demetres, a dessert café, with a group of friends. That evening, Melissa happened to be their waitress. A few smiles and eyes were exchanged, and with a little help from our mutual friend Hannah, numbers were shared and the story began. A few months later, we went on our very first date in London. Over a glass of white wine and a cozy dinner at a local sushi restaurant (where Travis still proudly holds on to the bright orange chopsticks) we quickly realized there was something special between us. At just 19 years old, in the middle of our second year of post-secondary, we both had the unmistakable sense that we had found someone who truly felt like “home.” In those early days, weekends were spent traveling back and forth between London and St. Catharines. But like many young love stories, ours took a pause. Life pulled us in different directions, and we went our separate ways, though, as Travis admits, he was “young and dumb”... Even with Travis' mistake, neither of us ever truly forgot the other. For the next seven years, no matter where life took us, we often found ourselves comparing other relationships and people to the one we once shared, one that was full of warmth, laughter, and ease. Then, in the summer after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, fate stepped back in. We found ourselves at a cottage weekend with mutual friends, two couples, and then just the two of us (a little obvious set-up). At first, nerves ran high for Travis barely saying a word early into the evening, but by the end of the night, we were talking until 5 a.m. about life, family, and everything in between. It felt like picking up right where we left off. From there, our story reignited. Melissa had just finished her master’s degree in Montreal, which meant long-distance, but we didn’t let that stop us. On one special weekend trip shortly after the cottage, Travis visited Montreal, and together we revisited our very first date, this time with natural wine and vegan sushi (We matured!). Sitting there together, we knew in our hearts: this was it. Seven years apart, and somehow, it had always been us. The years since have been filled with travel, adventures, countless drives and flights, and plenty of moments that reminded us that true love not only lasts but grows stronger with time. Three years later, after receiving blessings from both of our families, Melissa and Travis planned a trip to Boston. Surrounded by both of our parents and a baseball game, he got down on one knee on the famous "Acorn St" and asked the question that had been years in the making. Melissa said “yes!” (and thankfully, after starting the reaction by saying "no no no" in disbelief). Friends and family often tell us, “It was always the two of you.” And now, as we prepare to celebrate this next chapter, we couldn’t agree more. We are so excited to tie the knot, laugh, dance, and celebrate with all of the people we love most. Get ready, it’s going to be unforgettable!!

Our wedding ceremony will begin at 2:30 PM EST, so if you’re arriving on the day of the wedding, we kindly recommend requesting an early check-in with the hotel. They should be able to accommodate this to ensure you have plenty of time to settle in and get ready before the celebration.
