Tristan & Jenny Beth

October 15, 2023 • Danville, KY, USA

Our story probably begins with papa johns breadsticks. If you don’t know, you should. Late nights at Wheaton College where we met inevitably led to an order of these garlic parmesan dreams dripping in oil and butter. They’re literally so good. I forgot where I was going with this? Oh LOVE!! Well yes, we became friends slowly and found that, though our external interests and persona were quite different, our hearts pursued the same things and we wanted to live those out in similar ways. We want to Love God and Love others and Love ourselves with all the nuance and uniqueness that we have come to value. Through sociology classes, talking about Jesus, International Justice Mission volunteering, etc our lives slowly became entwined and we became real friends. Some time after Tristan graduated from Wheaton (a year before Jenny Beth), he developed what his friends would call “the worlds fattest crush” (though it was actually quiet and subtle), but sat on it for more than a year. When he couldn’t take it any longer, he spilled all of his lovey, tear-filled emotional guts to JB, in which she promptly and mercilessly rejected him for multiple super valid and well thought out reasons (we will let you guess which parts of that sentence tris wrote and which parts jb wrote). After some months of respectful friendship (and even a couple months of friendship silence that only half jokingly sent Tristan into the depths of despair), the spark finally emerged for Jenny Beth from a cavern so deep it truly was the work of the Holy Spirit (sheesh that is scathing @jennybethcox). The conversation about a relationship was opened and this time, the stars aligned, the heavens opened, trumpets blew, and little naked babies with wings and harps circled above. The romance was real, with us seeing each other at every chance possible, living in the glorious moments we got together. Then, just when things finally seemed perfect, Jenny Beth decided to move to a different continent. This brought unique challenges that brought us closer to Jesus, to each other, and to the lives we want to live in His kingdom. Through this time, after so much deliberation and soul searching it’s embarrassing (but very us), the final pieces fell into place. On a quiet beach in Martha’s Vineyard, an island off the coast of Massachusetts, we decided to make the last and first step forward together into marriage.

And that’s where you come in! We want you to join us for this special occasion. We take it seriously what it means that you attend: committing to support us, keep us close to one another and to our first love, Jesus. Thank you for your support along the journey, we are grateful that it has only just begun.
