Our Wedding

In the summer of 2017, Patrick was working at Epic and living in Middleton, WI, while Tyler had just finished his Masters in Secondary Education and Social Studies and living in Chicago, IL. While Tyler was home visiting his family over the summer, the pair met online. That summer, Patrick was originally cast in the Middleton Players Theatre production of Ragtime as Father. As is always the trend in the theatre world, the show needed additional men to fill out the ensemble, so Patrick asked Tyler if he'd be interested in joining the cast. The pair spent the summer rehearsing together and building the foundation of their relationship on the stage they returned to for their engagement pictures. After the summer ended, Tyler went back to Chicago to teach at Holy Trinity, and Patrick stayed in Middleton. The pair spent the next year making trips back and forth to see each other - Chicago traffic and all. Tyler moved back to Wisconsin in the summer of 2018, where the pair continues to live today. They love spending time together and with their friends, and they rarely have free time between work, rehearsals for various productions, playing new board games, traveling, and trying out new recipes. Tyler is currently a Special Education Teacher at Clark Street Community School while simultaneously taking classes to get his Special Education Licensure. Patrick is currently a Technical Solutions Engineer at Epic.

Andrew and Tyler met as freshmen in high school.  Kindred spirits for the love of theatre and the arts, they became quick friends.

Kiera and Tyler met in a "Comedy of Errors" rehearsal at DePaul University throwing side eyes and notes to unruly actors.  Kiera is excited and thrilled to share the title of Tyler's spouse with another!

Erin and Tyler have shared similar interests through their lives as older sister and brother: education, attending DePaul University, and men.  Through the laughs, tears and cheers, they are proud of one another of their journeys.

Patrick’s Party

Joe and Patrick met in high school at a mutual friend’s birthday party. It is surprising their friendship got off the ground as Patrick was wearing a hideous suit coat and burned a baby doll in a bonfire that night. The two have remained close through moves to 5 different cities across 4 states between the two of them and many visits along the way.  The two spent many nights hanging out at one of their parents' house, having bonfires, and more recently embracing their love of drag and queer nightlife.

As Patrick famously said in his speech when best man for Joe, “I have no idea how we actually met; Joe was just there one day.” Joe and Patrick met at Benedictine where both were involved in the drama club, where they developed a close bond. Both of them went to school in Erie, PA at rival schools down the road from each other. The two enjoy bygone days of shooting pool, driving nowhere with sing-alongs, and more recently hanging out with Connor (Joe’s son and Patrick’s godson). Oh, also Starbucks. Always Starbucks.

Jean-Marc is Patrick’s oldest brother. Growing up, the two butt heads with Jean-Marc being involved in sports and Patrick being a theatre nerd. But don’t let him fool you, Jean-Marc was involved in drama for a year backstage!

Christopher and Patrick shared a bedroom growing up, so the two spent a lot of time together. They enjoy following the Cleveland sports teams and the heartache that comes along with it.

Lauren is Patrick’s little sister, and she followed in his footsteps growing up. The two share a love of theatre and have been involved in many productions together and have traveled to Scotland and NYC together over the years to see shows.

If there are no rooms available, please reach out to Patrick and Tyler, who will contact our planner at the Marriott to continue to add rooms to our block. They will continue adding rooms to our block until there are no more available. Be warned: there is a visiting football team staying at our hotel the same day, so the hotel may fill up quickly. Getting to Madison

Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) is the most convenient airport if you are flying. MSN serves Madison and is only 20 minutes to the Madison Marriott West. However, as it is a smaller airport, it can be a bit pricier. General Mitchel International Airport (MKE) is ~1.5 hours away in Milwaukee, WI. O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is ~2 hours away in Chicago, IL.

Enjoy an outdoor shopping experience of chic boutiques and comfy favorites! This shopping center is located right across the street from the reception venue. Featured shops include World Market, DSW, Chicos, Marshalls, Bath and Body Works, and more! Delicious restaurants include Ancho and Agave, Fuji, and Freska.

One of our favorite Indian restaurants in the area! We'd recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala or Paneer Masala if you haven't had Indian food before!

Downtown Middleton is less than a five minute drive from the hotel, and has a lot of cool places to check out. Grab a slice of pie at Hubbard Ave Diner, checkout the National Mustard Museum, stop by Grace or Barrique's for a cup of coffee or tea, or go grab a beer at Capital Brewery!

The name says it all! The National Mustard Museum celebrates the savory history of mustard, with an overstocked selling floor on top. Try delicious samples and get all your mustard swag you can ask for!

A favorite hangout spot for the couple and their theatre friends after rehearsal over in Middleton throughout various shows! The drinks are cheap, yet strong! The jalapeño curds are also delicious!

Highly dependent on how the weather is, Pheasant Branch Conservancy has a long system of trails throughout Middleton. Nice place to get away for some air!

Downtown Madison

Downtown Madison is truly gorgeous with so much to do. In the summer, Capitol Square turns into a giant farmer's market. While that won't be there, still nice to go wander around. Right on the square, you have the Old Fashioned Restaurant and Cooper's Tavern which are frequent go-tos of the couple. You can also catch a show at the Bartell Community Theatre or Overture Center for the Arts. Looking to see some art? Check out the Chazen Museum of Art or Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

Madison's zoo is rather small, but it's also free!

Near Wedding Ceremony

Hilldale is a more upscale shopping center in the area, featuring Macy's, Lululemon, Lush, Sur La Table, and of course a Target. There are also a lot of good restaurants in there, so would be a good place to grab a beer between the ceremony and reception! Check out Cafe Hollander or The Great Dane!

Chocolate Shoppe has a sign telling you that if you want to know what the calories are, go eat some carrots instead! Their ice cream is rich and decadent.

Verona Area

The Verona area is where Patrick and Tyler call home. Classic small town vibes, there is plenty to do out here with a plethora of cafes (Hodge Podge, Grace, Sow's Ear, and Alice Good Specialty Coffee), great bakeries (Craig's Cake Shop), and Epic where Patrick is employed.

Not your typical office park. Epic has all of their buildings themed, and it makes it a very eclectic place to visit. From one part of campus themed after the wizarding world to another themed after storybooks, there is plenty to see. There's a giant rocking horse, an oversized banana on a spring, 2 slides, a 11,500 seat auditorium, and so much more to see! Open for self-guided tours on the weekend, which makes an enjoyable (and exhausting) visit. Patrick's office is in the Jules Verne office building, so go looking for the giant kraken attacking the sub out front of the building as well as the central staircase!
