Once upon a holy swipe… Wesley and Valerie’s love story began where all good modern Christian fairy tales do—on a dating app called Upward. It took just one “blessed” swipe right for two hearts to start aligning under one God. While others were scrolling for selfies, Wesley and Valerie were looking for faith, purpose, and a best friend. Their very first date? It wasn’t at a coffee shop or a movie theater—nope, it was at Second Baptist Church (because what better way to test compatibility than sitting through a sermon together?). And afterward, they broke bread—literally—at Olive Garden. Between the never-ending breadsticks and conversations about Jesus, they knew this was something special. From that day forward, they’ve been inseparable—praying together, laughing uncontrollably over the silliest things (like the most random things that Wesley brings up… lol), and supporting each other through every season. Whether it was late-night chats or Sunday brunches filled with laughter and extra syrup, their relationship has always been centered on God’s love and His perfect timing. So here they are today—two imperfect people chasing a perfect God, ready to say “I do” and begin the rest of their forever. Because when God writes your love story, it’s always better than anything you could swipe into existence.

Meet Sydney Green, Valerie’s right-hand woman, prayer partner, personal hype squad, and Maid of Honor! These two have been through it all—bad hair days, late-night phone calls, deep talks about God and guys.

Sydney has been by Valerie’s side through every season of life—especially the one where she swore she was done with dating… right before meeting Wesley (Sydney called it, by the way). She’s the kind of friend who will cry during the vows and still make jokes during the reception. 

Valerie couldn’t imagine walking down the aisle without her best friend cheering her on (and probably handing her tissues in between giggles).

Chris had been Wesley’s best friend for as long as anyone could remember. The two of them met as kids on the same street, spending entire summers racing bikes, getting into harmless mischief, and laughing until their stomachs hurt. But as they grew older, one thing became their favorite tradition—playing video games together. Whether it was late-night battles on the couch, trying to beat impossible bosses, or competing head-to-head just to see who could win bragging rights, gaming was always their escape and their bond.
Over the years, life brought school, jobs, and responsibilities, but somehow Wesley and Chris always made time for each other. Their friendship wasn’t just built on fun—it was built on loyalty, encouragement, and having each other’s back through everything. That’s why, when Wesley asked Chris to be his best man, it wasn’t just a choice, it was obvious. As Wesley begins his new adventure in marriage, Chris stands beside him not only as his best man but as the brother he chose long ago, ready to celebrate every new “level” of life together.
