You know you’ve found your soulmate when you feel happy for no reason. This is what Jake and Vanessa realized almost ten years ago, after they both swiped right on OkCupid in 2014. After messaging each other for a few weeks, they decided it was time to meet in person. Jake, who was new to San Francisco, was hesitant to meet and paranoid about getting scammed. An ultimatum from Vanessa (“Meet me today or we’ll part ways!”) gave Jake the initiative to make the trip to Aces Bar. It was at this first date that both Jake and Vanessa knew they were the ones for each other. They could instantly feel how comfortable and natural it was to be around each other.

Jake and Vanessa share a love of visiting national parks, wine tasting all over Napa and Sonoma, as well as eating at all the best restaurants in the Bay Area. They became each other’s favorite travel companion and could be the ultimate “foodies” together. Jake and Vanessa like the saying “people who love to eat are always the best people,” and they found that in each other.

After five years of dating, they decided to move to New York City. With having family on both sides of the country, they knew they had to make it fair and share time with both families. In November of 2020, Jake and Vanessa returned to the Bay Area for Thanksgiving with Vanessa’s family.
