Our Wedding

Paul had a plan - he would propose at a birthday bash planned for Victoria, where all her friends would be present. But due to previously unknown stipuations and circumstances plans had to change, so he hatched a new plan, to go on the same hike as they did when they first hung out. But then it rained for two weeks straight. One saturday in late July, after spending the morning replacing a toilet and fixing a shower, Paul hatched what would hopefully be his last and best-conceived plan - in two hours they would go on a hike with their dogs on Monte Sano, and with a view from the mountain, he would finally be able to pop the question. All went to plan, until he started the car and realized he was on empty. Panicked but still determined, he made a quick change of plans and stopped at a hiking trail closer to the base of the mountain. where they would walk with their dogs for a mile, find a picnic table to rest and take pictures witht their dogs. It was at the picnic table, sweaty and muddy, that Paul got on one knee and asked the all important question. Victoria, after spending maybe too long staring at the ring, leaving Paul in suspense, of course said "Yes."

Things to Do

If you're coming from out of town and have time to kill, we've collected a list of recommendations for things to do! We hope you get to experience the city we've each called home for so long.

Downtown

Downtown has something for everyone any time of day. It's more of an historic downtown, and a great place to walk around - especially Big Spring Park. Here's a few places that we enjoy.

Our usual haunt that serves as a coffee shop when you want to get going and as a brewery with live music when you're ready to slow down.

Bus Stop Coffee/Green Bus Brewing

Another coffee shop of which we're regulars. This one boasts some of the best baked goods you can get.

The Moon Bakeshop

If you're looking for a sweet treat to walk around with, we love stopping here for gelato. We're also known to carry out a pizza to take to Green Bus just down the street.

Sam & Greg's Pizzeria/Gelateria

A tea shop that, over the last decade, has gotten half the city addicted. They serve their tea either hot or iced.

Piper & Leaf @ Constituion Hall Park

A collection of small shops all running out of an old storage facility.

Clinton Row

A local small batch coffee roaster. If you enjoy coffee like we do, it's worth stopping by just to get a whiff.

The City at Large

If you're looking for a place to drive/Uber to here's a handful of places that could suit your fancy.

This is by far the main attraction in Huntsville. Tickets are $40, so if you're willing to spend for them, it's a very worthwhile visit. Note: The Saturn V rocket outside is not technically real, but there is a real (mildly disassembled) one that can be seen hanging above you in the museum.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center

This is a former-mill-turned-art-space. It's home to over 150 studios and galleries, as well as a handful of eateries.

Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment

Ever wanted to sneak behind your high school bleachers for a drink? At Campus 805, they removed the bleachers entirely and replaced them with fermenting tanks. This converted Junior High School is home to breweries, bars, and arcades.

The Great Outdoors

Huntsville is a the tail end of the Appalachians, and as such we have a good deal of hiking opportunities around the city.
