Brandon and Vivianne met at the University of Michigan (go blue!) in the summer of 2013. It was love at first sight, when Vivianne borrowed a blue bin from Brandon to move into the dorm. They were co-counselors, with adjoining hallways of campers for the summer. Brandon would yell at Vivianne's campers to help her keep them in line, and Vivianne would tell Brandon her 10 year plan and about why corgis were the best dog. They also went sky-diving together because Vivianne had a coupon. At one point, Vivianne sent a snapchat to her best friend (Cassie, Matron of Honor) of Brandon playing the ocarina with the text, "I'm going to marry this kid." This summer camp is also where they met Juzz, who is now the officiant at their wedding and one of their closest friends. Vivianne even ran a Tough Mudder this summer just to spend more time with Brandon - which, unfortunately in hindsight, gave the impression that Vivianne tolerated cardio in any form.
At the end of the summer, they started dating (and 10 years later, here we are!). Vivianne never really learned to chill out and took college very seriously, spending many late nights studying with friends through grad school (most notably her bridesmaids Marissa, Phoebe, and Tahiya). Meanwhile, Brandon joined the cheer team (with Vivianne's support), where the bromances of a lifetime began (notably his groomsmen Alex, Tor, Nico, Pat). They found compromise at Wednesday night trivia at Charley's and attending basketball games, where Vivianne became the social chair for the student section and Brandon made sure she got a personal pizza from the cheer team every game.
Brandon's job opportunity took them to Phoenix after graduation, where he was a Test Automation Engineer for State Farm. Fortunately, his best friend from the previous summer (Jeremy, Best Man) also moved to Phoenix. Since Jeremy is a stand-up kind of guy, he introduced Viv and Brandon to all his friends (including Trevor, groomsman, who has questionable tastes in college football teams from Ohio), even inviting them over for Thanksgiving when his mom and sister were in town. B&V and their found family went on many adventures together including karaoke, nights out in Tempe/Scottsdale, game nights, cabin trips, exploring the Phoenix night market, going to Disneyland, and more. One time, Jeremy brought home a ray of sunshine (Carley, bridesmaid) who instantly befriended Brandon and Viv through her excitement about everything. The mutual love of board games even helped manifest Tahiya (bridesmaid) and her husband Sohel moving from Seattle to Phoenix to spend a year of game nights, pool days, and every Marvel movie premiere together with B&V. But fate works in mysterious ways, and when B&V initially visited Tahiya in Seattle in 2019, they began their plotting to move there - it came true in 2022.
However, before Brandon and Vivianne could move to Seattle, there was one little task - one last HALLOWEEN PARTY! Well, that and Brandon proposing. He had it all planned out, he was going to have Vivianne run to Tempe Town Lake with him and hire a photographer and propose there.... well, or maybe he would propose at the going away party? Well Vivianne would cry and he didn't want that.... he would propose in Seattle! No wait, he wanted everyone to see the ring before they left....
He decided to surprise Vivianne with a candlelight concert, using their best friends Logan and Lexie visiting as cover. They went to the Phoenix Zoo for a Hans Zimmer tribute (even though Vivianne still hasn't seen interstellar), and proposed at the end of the concert. Vivianne did in fact cry (of joy). Luckily, they got the whole thing on video; although Vivianne will forever rue her decision to choose her birkenstocks and ugliest sweater for that night. At least her nails were done.
Once in Seattle, Vivianne and Brandon continued their story, where they met some amazing people. They reconnected with fellow Michigan grads, friends of friends, and many others. One chapter will close on their wedding day, but as Vivianne and Brandon have found, they love starting new chapters together.
Vivianne & Brandon would like to thank Ben Alperts for doing their engagement photo session at the Arcade, and Carley Catherine (honorable mentions for Brittany Smith & Aleah Roseen) for taking their iconic pokemon ball proposal photo.
