We met back in middle school, Harrison Middle School to be exact. We were young kids who shared some classes and similar friend groups. We went to Harrison and Rio Grande High School. As time passed and we graduated we saw each others accomplishments, and life events occur. We 'Liked' and we shared, and even had minor conversations here and there. We even came up with the silly joke that we would be single bringing something silly to the 10 year reunion (because we didn't have a partner to bring). Little did we know that one late phone call would change our friendship into a beautiful loving committed relationship. One date was a grocery shopping necessity and my daughter gravitated to him, intrigued to show him how a tick died (on Youtube). I saw how amazed he was and made my daughter feel that even with the silliest video how her interests mattered, and BOOM. That's when I knew. We spent everyday together and we became inseparable. Y'all are probably wondering how did the proposal gooooo......
It was in early January of 2023 he had told me that he wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day early because he had to work and did not want to go out the weekend of Valentine's Day because we both knew it was going to be busy. He surprised me with a weekend gateway at Ojo Caliente (2/11/2023). When we arrived we had a beautiful casita and enjoyed our weekend with hot steamy soaking sessions, boosting our serotonin with puppy interactions, silky chicken feeding and a delicious dinner. After having the best steak (Bison) and being in a food coma, we made our way back to the Casita. As I was laying in the bed, immobile and scrolling through my emails, he started to play music. I was thinking to myself "Oh God, please don't ask me to dance! I can't move" As he came over he asked me to get up and as I was telling him I was full he asked me to simply sit up on the bed. He then got down on one knee and I was stunned! He professed his love and asked me THEEEE question. I cried and he cried and I said Yes! I asked him why was he crying and he said the funniest thing "I was watching scary videos about people saying 'no' and I was scared!" We both laughed and he had asked if I had suspected anything. I told him I did not suspect anything because he usually does romantic things to begin with, I also told him that I thought he was going to ask me in 5 years...We both laughed...maybe a little too hard. We love one another and we are excited to share our new beginning with you!
