The universe first tried to bring us together years ago at the Palladium Night Club in New York City. There I was, nursing a cognac and a broken heart, when Angel approached and offered to buy me a drink. "No thanks, I can pay for my own drinks," I said, not knowing I had just turned down my future husband. (He still teases me about this.) Years passed, and on a dark winter morning, fate decided to try again. I was heading to my job at Key Bank when the city bus doors opened, and there he was - an angel in a bus driver’s uniform. The moment I looked up, Cupid's arrow struck. Something felt familiar, like we'd known each other before - perhaps in another lifetime. This time, we didn't let the moment slip away. Angel asked me out, and we've been inseparable ever since. Maybe it's because we're both old souls who finally found each other again, or maybe it's just that this time, the timing was finally right. On December 12, 2021, Angel proposed with a promise that took my breath away. He vowed to marry me at El Convento in Puerto Rico - a place that had captured my heart four decades earlier. I still remember standing there at age 20, watching a wedding being set up in that magnificent hotel, and whispering to myself, "Someday I will get married here." Now, forty years later, that whispered dream is becoming reality. Our love story proves that some dreams don't have an expiration date, and sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for. From a missed connection at the Palladium, to a magical morning bus ride in Manhattan, to a historic hotel in Puerto Rico - our path to each other may not have been direct, but it led us exactly where we were meant to be. They say when you make plans, God laughs. But sometimes, just sometimes, He smiles and makes your wildest dreams come true - even if they take forty years to unfold.

*** El universo intentó unirnos por primera vez hace años en el Palladium Night Club en la ciudad de Nueva York. Allí estaba yo, tomando un coñac y con el corazón roto, cuando Ángel se acercó y me ofreció comprarme una bebida. "No, gracias, puedo pagar mis propias bebidas," dije, sin saber que acababa de rechazar al hombre que sería mi futuro esposo. (Aún nos reímos sobre eso). Pasaron los años, y una oscura mañana de invierno, el destino decidió intentarlo de nuevo. Me dirigía a mi trabajo en Key Bank cuando las puertas del autobús de la ciudad se abrieron y ahí estaba él: un ángel con uniforme de conductor de autobús. En el momento en que miré hacia arriba, Cupido disparó su flecha. Algo se sentía familiar, como si nos hubiéramos conocido antes, quizás en otra vida. Esta vez, no dejamos que el momento se escapara. Ángel me invitó a salir, y desde entonces hemos sido inseparables. Tal vez sea porque ambos somos almas viejas que finalmente se encontraron de nuevo, o quizás sea simplemente porque esta vez, el momento era finalmente el adecuado. El 12 de diciembre de 2021, Ángel me propuso matrimonio con una promesa que me dejó sin aliento. Me prometió que nos casaríamos en El Convento en Puerto Rico, un lugar que había capturado mi corazón cuatro décadas antes. Todavía recuerdo estar allí a los 20 años, viendo cómo preparaban una boda en ese magnífico hotel y susurrándome: "Algún día me casaré aquí." Ahora, cuarenta años después, ese sueño susurrado se está convirtiendo en realidad. Nuestra historia de amor demuestra que algunos sueños no tienen fecha de vencimiento, y que a veces, las mejores cosas en la vida valen la pena la espera. Desde una conexión perdida en el Palladium, y luego una mágica mañana en el autobús en Manhattan, hasta un histórico hotel en Puerto Rico, nuestro camino hacia el otro puede no haber sido directo, pero nos llevó exactamente a donde estábamos destinados a estar. Dicen que cuando haces planes, Dios se ríe. Pero a veces, solo a veces, Él sonríe y hace realidad tus sueños más salvajes, incluso se toman cuarenta años en materializarse.

Primo Hermano, that is the best description of our relationship. We spent our youth together, me running towards danger and Siso running from danger.  As we became adults, we took separate paths.  As fate would have it, our paths always seemed to cross.  Siso has been there for me, through the lows and the highs.  Could not imagine my wedding day without him.

My daughter my world!  As a kid she was always full of advice and love to debate about anything and everything.  As an adult she has been my confidant, friend and all around amazing human being. Seeing as she is my daughter and l have known her since the minute she was born, I couldn’t imagine having anyone else standing by my side on my wedding day.

During most of its nearly 500-year history, it was an important military outpost for Spain and later the United States.

Old San Juan's venerated cathedral is Puerto Rico's grandest religious building, and one of its most important. In fact, San Juan Bautista is the seat of the Archdiocese of Puerto Rico. It's also the second oldest church in the Western Hemisphere, and the oldest church on U.S. soil. The history of the church dates to 1521 and the earliest beginnings of the Spanish colonization of the island. The building you see today wasn't the original church, which was demolished by a hurricane. The current structure dates to 1540.

Are kids welcomed? While we love children, we are keeping our special day as an adult only occasion except for our grandchildren. Can I bring a guest that is not named on my invite? Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you receive a plus one, there will be a place to share who your plus one will be when you RSVP. If you could, please respect our wishes as we are trying to keep the wedding as intimate as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
