This relationship officially started on February 25th, 2019. Wesley, 17, and Emily, 16, met at Marysville High School. Wesley would pick Emily up in his Minivan and they would drive around just talking the night away. After a month of hanging out, Wesley finally asked Emily to be his girlfriend.
Wesley after graduating High school then had to move to Bethel University in Indiana which was 4 hours away from their hometown. While Emily began her senior year of High school. They officially kicked off what would be the hardest part of their relationship, long distance.
Wesley eventually transferred to Notre Dame (South Bend, IN) while Emily moved to Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI). They dated long-distance for 5 years, separated by 157.1 miles. After that, Emily relocated to Indianapolis Indiana to pursue her Master's degree, while Wesley stayed home (Marysville, MI) to work as a controls engineer. This change added another year of separation, increasing the distance between them to 339.0 miles. The most challenging separation yet. Despite the challenges, they stayed connected through FaceTiming, calling, and visiting whenever possible. Both Wesley and Emily believe that their faith, communication, and commitment to loving each other from a distance only strengthened their relationship.
